“very pretty”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

set in a lovely people watching square . Very popular venue for both local and international weddings. My wife loved the fashion shows that the guests put on. In the evening the square is a lovely spot for a quiet drink and tapas

“Most beautiful serene church”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

This is a beautiful, quaint, serence church. You could just sit forever taking it all in. Mass is beautiful also but make sure you sit near a fan if there in the summer.

“Lovely peaceful place for thinking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2012

I attended Mass here and it was lovely. One night, on 30th September I think, around 8.30pm - 9pm there was a celebration in the town when men carried aloft a statue and took it up to the small church on the main road where it met a statue of Mary, also carried aloft. Both then proceeded back down to El Salvador, followed by pilgrims bearing torches and local dignitaries as brass bands played. The procession was unusual and very well attended and after much maneuvering of the statues by the carriers they were brought back inside the main church backwards to much applause.

It was quite a spectacle and happened around 30th Sept to mark the start of the Festival of the towns 2 parton saints, Virgen de las Angustias (Our Lady of Sorrows) and San Miguel Arcángel (Michael the Archangel). Worth going to if you are in Nerja during this time and are interested in the local religious culture.

“Central location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

Used to be kept open for visitors to use or to just look around but appears to be kept locked most of the time when no services or events being held. Nice to be in vicinity when typical Spanish wedding taking place or Religious Parade.

“Quaint”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

The church is small by European standards but what it lacks in size it makes up in beauty. Just strolling up and down the aisles one is amazed by the craftsmanship. It appears many of the statues are portable and must be used for religious festivals.
