We chanced on this lovely B&B almost by accident after our house purchase fell through. We couldn't have found a better place to recover from our disappointment and exhaustion.

Casa de Vides is situated in a tiny village near Alcala la Real in the Province of Jaen. If you're loking for the "real Spain" of legend then you'll surely find it here! The owners, Brian and Sandra welcomed us with open arms into their beautiful home making us feel like friends not paying guests. We were also warmly welcomed by the villagers who invited us into their homes and out to the campo with them: within days we were absorbed into the the community.

The rooms are very comfortable and the whole house has a very traditionally Spanish feel to it. Sandra's cooking is becoming a local legend with much of the produce coming from her garden. An interesting exchange of recipes and cooking skills with the local ladies means that one day you can be eating a delicious local Spanish dish and the next a curry!

The views of the mountains and the olive groves from the village are staggering, and if you can tear yourself away from the peace and quiet of the house and swimming pool, then you'll find Granada, Jaen, Cordoba, Alcala la Real and the forgotten gem that is Priego de Cordoba all within an easy drive. All around the area are wonderful walks and Brian is only to happy to help and advise on the best areas. You'll be spoiled for choice.

If you want to relax and enjoy wonderful scenery and walks, great company, superb food, with some of Spain's most stunning cities within reach, then this is undoubtedly the place for you. Give Brian and Sandra a ring and have a chat and like us, you'll certainly not regret it!
