We booked this hotel through fly globespan for a girly weekend and although not terribly happy with globespan - flights were fine but when we arrived it took 40 mins to get luggage off plane then there was no rep telling us were coach was took us another 40 mins to find transfers to be told by driver that the rep was always late she finally turned up just before we left and didnt even apologise - needless to say we were dreading getting to the hotel.

However, when we go to the hotel we were pleasently surprised. The lobby was clean all marble and nice and cool (we arrived at 1130am and it was already 31 C). On the hotel website it said you cant get into the rooms till 5pm so we were again surprised when we got straight into our room with no fuss at all. The room was huge with 2 single beds and a double sofa bed (we had a studio room) the kitchen was behind a curtain and had a fridge, kettle (although we didnt use it as it was a bit scummy looking on the inside) lots of plates, cups, glasses and cutlery. The balcony had a great view over the pool and you could see right over to the marina and beach - beautiful view to wake up to. The room was very clean and the maid service was brilliant. We were only there friday - monday but we got new towels every day and the room was throughly cleaned every day.

The pool area is clean and tidy lots of sun loungers and yes you have to pay 1 euro but thats for all day and at least it means you get a sun lounger instead of people putting there towels on them at 6am and not coming back till 5pm to use them. If you dont want to pay then you can put your towel down on the grass. The pool bar wasnt open when we where there apparently its only open in peak season (july/aug) but there is a bar in the lobby and you can take your drinks up to the pool (which is on the first level) You do have to put a security code in to get to the pool but you are given it when you check in and its easy to remember and its to stop outside guests using the pool.

The hotel is in an excellent location loads of restaraunts, pubs and clubs in walking distance. We went to a little cafe every morning for the best breakfast i have ever had it was called the scots-irish cafe definately worth a visit and the cheeseburgers are too die for.

If you go out the hotel and turn left and walk along the main road take the first left and walk up that road you get to a pub called linekers which is actually under the hotel pool - brilliant laugh music really good.

Everybody is really friendly - this was one of the best girly holidays i have ever had cant wait to go back next year.

My only warning point is that this hotel is used by alot of stag and hen parties and people on long weekends so it can be a bit rowdy on the weekends as pubs and clubs are open till 7am. There were a few families there and they seemed to be impressed with the hotel as much as we were.

My 2 friends and i booked into the PYR for 3 day and have to say we were very impressed.

the hotel was very clean, the rooms were big and airy, although the switches to operate the fridge, lights etc were a bit hard to fathom out, but the staff were more than happy to help.

the pool was very clean, was a bit dissappointed that the pool bar never had staff though.

was central to the best shops, bar and restaraunts.

overall we had a great stay and are thinking about going back next year

“Horrible and Dingy”

Hotel Pyr Fuengirola

We had booked a week here but the minute we got into the hotel we were disappointed. Everything in the hotel is dated, even thought we werent impressed we still went up to room and decided to make the most of it. The lifts were old and slow especially if you were on one of the higher floors. The corridors are dark and dingy, the paint and carpets look old and dirty. The size of the room was about the only positive in the "hotel", the room was clean but it was just not up to the standard of other apartments was have stayed in.

We then went to find the pool and eventually located it on the first floor but couldnt get out to it as we needed a code so we had to go back down to reception and get the code. The pool area while large, was very disappointing, the whole area didnt seem well maintained. You also need the code to get back from the pool to the hotel which seemed very strange to me.
After seeing the pool area we decided we would find another hotel to stay in and went across to the Florida Spa which was a hundred times nicer and cleaner and well worth the additional cost.
When we came back to reception to tell them we weren't staying they were very rude and unprofessional to us. They never asked why we didnt want to stay or if they was anything they could do to change our minds, this would suggest to me it happens quite often.
I would only recommend this hotel to a group of lads on a cheap holiday.

“Hotel OK, Staff sullen except the chambermaid.”

Hotel Pyr Fuengirola

Jun 1, 2008

We had a short stay at PYR are were really impressed by its good location, Central for everything and short walk from the train station which can be taken direct from the airport in Malaga and is not expensive. (unlike the transfers we paid for)
We had a triple room with two single beds and a sofa bed and it was a really good size.
There wasnt any hair dryer, iron or kettle in the room and we didnt want to ask reception as some of the staff were a bit off hand. ( chambermaid was friendly )
The pool was very clean although it was freezing cold on a very hot day?? and the bar was not open?? we were also charged for using the sun loungers??
I would stay at this hotel if I was to visit Fuengirola again.

Booked thePYR as is disabled friendly. had a studio apartment, well furnished, but no microwave & spanish only TV, (thought we might at least have a world news chanel). there was a bank of switches on either side of the door that controlled different zones , i.e. lights, cooker , tv etc, but no instructions, we thought at 1st cooker & fridge wasn't working. Worst of all were the beds, ABSOLUTELY ROCK HARD!!
PYR is in a good central location , if we had had better beds then I would recommend it.
