My first time for more than 30 years to Costa Del Sol. This holiday hotel was booked as Fuegirola...Don't be fooled it's 45 minutes walk along the prom to the town center, Right on the east end of the bay.in Torre Blanca however there's a bus stop outside front of hotel for those unable/willing to walk.
Now the hotel.. 2 weeks all inclusive in May 2013.
The hotel had only been open for a week after winter closure
The hotel was impressive in its cleanliness,
Thats it, really the pool is a small six sided affair and the surrounding tiled area is uneven and ridged due to some sort of settlement.
There are loads of sunbeds and tables and chairs both around the pool area and grassed areas nearby.
Drinks..all inclusive are entitled to alcoholic drinks from poolside bar together with soft drinks tea coffee etc, however you have to go into the dining room to help yourself to tea and coffee.
all outside drinks are in plastic glass's (reasonable)to save accidents
lounge bar open from 6pm 2 drinks per person policy 1/2 pint mixer glass's for both mixers and beer.( quite a queue develops as bar is small and only 1 some times 2 bar staff)
an quirk is that if you want say a black Russian you have to have a coffee liqueur and coke and then queue again for a shot of vodka.this can be quite time consuming and needs sorting.
So if you are a family with a child you have to queue twice (3 drinks not acceptable)
Animation team of three give 100% effort but its mainly party games and quizzes
Food !!!!!!! NOT THE BEST. fish fingers one day as a choice for main evening meal course
soups twice a day no choice thin watery packet soup not what you would expect from Spain home of fab soups normally.
Breakfast hit or miss some days no fried eggs. other days no bacon, sausages poor mealy cheap
Some strange concoctions, mostly tinned vegetables and one day pizza was a pastry base with passata spread on it.(no cheese)
also if a popular dish -one day Duck with Orange sauce. ran out and was replaced with some sort of fried meat.!!-I must say that you could knock a meal together eventually but some days it was a challenge. FREE WINE AND WATER FOR ALL AT MEAL TIMES
My biggest complaint was that people had to lay up their own tables with knives forks etc and most cleared their own plates and cutlery staff did clear a few but mainly were ineffective as the restaurant was small and too many tables and chairs for the size.
This is a big hotel 10 floors 25 rooms to a floor so when full getting on for 500 customers
Lounge bar has max capacity of 300-400 patrons so that also can be crowded.
All staff were polite and cheerful no complaints there.
Cleaning staff were good room was cleaned daily .fresh towels etc beds made
There's tea and coffee and snacks available in the afternoons in dining room and also in the evening in the bar (all inclusive)...NOT ALL RESIDENTS are all inclusive and these people are seen daily availing themselves of the snacks etc
.So if your up to that sort of thing!! all they seem miss out on is the booze(a lot or regulars appear to be onto this as there's no checking by staff )
Be warned the costs of Alcoholic drinks is expensive in the hotel if your a full/half boarder and honest.
I DO NOT ADVOCATE THAT YOU SHOULD ACT DISHONESTLY, I JUST REPORTED WHAT I SAW.
