Visited here in mid August for 10 nights, me, the wife and two kids aged 16 and 13. We were shown our rooms and found the kids' room was okay but ours ( next door) smelled badly of cigarette smoke ( we left the patio door open as long as we could to try and get rid of the smell - it helped but didn't get rid of it all together). We then noticed an adjoining door but surprisingly it didn't ajoin the kids room next door but the room on the other side! There's was the same - their room adjoined the room on the other side not our room. Not sure if this was down to the hotel or the travel company, i suspect the former. Anyway we mentioned it at reception and were told to come back the next day - we did and were advised nothing available until the Sunday ( we arrived on the Thursday). Not a major problem, more of a minor inconvenience but it meant that we didn't unpack fully until we did move on the Sunday - not ideal.
The rooms - small but functional, very clean with daily maid service but i personally found the bed uncomfortable but that may just be me.No baths, all showers. Our room was not pool side but we could see the beach and had an excellent view up into the mountains in the distance. The balconies seem to be at right angles to the hotel so as far as i can tell they will all have views of the beach.
The food - perfectly fine, a decent choice and quality was good enough. Unless you're very picky you shouldn't have any problems. N.B if travelling with children, there is no kids menu or hot dogs, chicken nuggets etc etc
The pool - smallish, again if you've young children no shallow end or kids pool but it has an excellent view over the promenade and beach although it is only for swimming, no fun allowed! One afternoon at about 6:30pm there was only me and the two kids in the pool. no one else and only a few people about on the sun terrace - although away from the pool- and we were told by a member of staff to stop playing with a ball in the pool - it's not permitted. It was a small vinyl ball, not a football, slightly heavier than a ballon! Seemed a bit mean to me as there was no-one in the pool and kids only enjoying themselves whilst on holiday but rules are rules!!!
Sunbeds - an issue, people leaving towels and not using beds for hours, there is a sun bed monitor from what i can tell but he only seemed to be around occassionally. From about 4:00pm onwards it starts to empty so beds usually available from then on.
The location - excellent, right on the front overlooking the promenade and an excellent , clean beach
The entertainment - definately caters for the older guests. A variety of singers of different quality , ballroom / line dancing, bingo, a comedian and dancers. Not for the younger crowd or for children
Bar / lounge areas - recently refurbished to a high standard, very smart and clean and there is a happy "hour" between 7-11pm across the three bars( 7-9 in one bar then 8-10 in another and then 9-11 in the pool bar area). This was excellent as it meant two for one on drinks ( pint costs 3.20 euro's)
Overall - not a bad hotel, in fact very well located and very clean but entertainment poor ( if you're not over 70years that is ), rooms small and issues around the pool and sunbed availability. Also given the fact that it is a hotel that allows smoking in the rooms there is the chance that you may get a room that smells of cigarette smoke. Majority of staff friendly enough and seemed to get on well with the older clients. The vast majority of clients were over 65 years , in fact most i would say were over 70 years of age. I would recommend this hotel to anyone over 70 years who is a smoker. I would not recommend this hotel to families with children or to young couples unless they are planning on going out for their entertianment on an evening.
