We stayed from 18/9/2011 til 02/10/2011. After reading reviews here I was dubious to say the least, but the holiday was a surprise gift and half-board so we went greatfully.
I will begin by saying sorry for the length of my review but I feel I wouldn't be doing justice to anyone if I didn't mention everything.
After a fractious flight and 1hr coach ride provided by the tour operator with a 6yr old, 18mth old and a 12wk old in tow we arrived and from the front it looked deceptively promising. In reception I was greeted by a receptionist who informed me that the room set aside for us wouldn't be suitable and directed us to another that was furnished with a double bed and set of bunks, there were no cots for either of our youngest that had been requested at the time of booking and one didn't arrive until the 3rd night, thankfully I had the foresight to pack a pop-up bassinet for our youngest baby but due to our toddlers rebel streak the bottom bunk was unsuitable and had to be strapped into the pushchair until the cot finally arrived. There was no locking device on the inside of the room door to stop chidren from opening the door. Our toddler managed to get shut out when the fire return on the door closed it and was unable to get back in, if I hadn't heard the cries I daren't think what could have happened. Also my heart was in my mouth every time our toddler went on the balcony for fear of falling off through or under the railings.
The room we had according to the fire-plans was identical in every way to every other in the hotel, it was cramped with so many beds, a wooden thing to put the suitcases on, 2 cabinets and a dressing table and with needing the pushchair in there too made it worse. Housekeeping wouldn't allow us to leave the suitcases under the beds and they wouln't fit in the wardrobes, we also were not provided with a 'Do not disturb' sign. In our room the maintainance was terrible, none of the lights were fitted straight, the fridge didn't cool properly and the air-conditioning was noisy, in the bathroom in our room, the toilet seat wasn't fitted securely and moved when you sat on it, The safety bar/hand rail on the wall over the bath was loose, the towel ring next to the shower was hanging off the wall and the shaving mirror was bent.
We could hear the entertainment with our balcony door shut, and every sound made in the rooms either side and above us and also from the corridor outside out door.
The Hotel has 2 adult pools, (1 outdoor) and a 40cm deep outdoor toddler pool none of which were heated, the sea was warmer.
The hotel had 90% spanish guests who were rude to say the least and on may occasions barged past the pushchair with the children in to get into the tiny lifts first and to get through the doorways, the staff were very unhelpfull, and even if they could they didn't speak english. The only ones who did or try were housekeeping, reception and the Maidtre'd in the dining room as for the rest they weren't shy about being rude.
Which brings me to the meals which were almost always near cold, practically the same thing 2 or 3 times each of the 2 weeks we were there, breakfasts never changed, The only thing other than breakfast that was remotely english was cottage pie and that didn't have gravy in it, They poorly signed so you were guessing what you were eating. No good if you're like my husband who is highly allergic to the mushrooms that were in every other dish being served. As for children our eldest struggled to find anything to eat during our entire stay and survived mainly on cereals in the morning and chips and cheese every night with a bread roll and yoghurt or icecream for pudding. For the whole hotel they only had 3 highchairs in the dining room. We did notice that many of the guests during our stay started eating out.
I struggled not to notice there were no baby changing facilities in any of the communal toilets, I had to battle with a standard width pushchair through most of the doorways and the ramps were very steep, awful for anyone in a wheelchair that should need to use them.
Lastly there was a poor attempt at daytime poolside emtertainment in the afternoon eg, dance lessons, darts lessons, table tennis lessons all in spanish, The evening entertainment which we didnt use because it was all done again only in spanish and aimed entirely at the ageing spanish guests eg. bingo and a magician are the ones I remember, and there was absolutely nothing for children.
All in all I have to say that we were chronicly disappointed with the hotel, staff and facilities and would advise everyone particularly if english to avoid it, there was even a write up in the local free paper during our first week about how poorly the hotel conducted its buisness with the english. While out one day i spoke to a rep from another hotel and was told that it was no longer their company policy to recommend this hotel and couldn't understand why we were there.
