“Not again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2014

Spooky is the word I would use to describe this hotel. When we arrived there was nobody around, just a girl behind the reception. She gave us a room with a view of the reception roof and back street. We went back and asked for another room and she gave us a room opposite ours with a good view of the sea. Why she didn't give that room to start with, I don't know. We later found out there were only 18 guests staying in this hotel, which made her decision on giving us the first room even more peculiar. The corridors were so dark, the atmosphere was more like from a murder mystery than a package tour hotel. The outside covered pool was heated and very warm.
Dinner was appalling, just appalling. We were on HB basis. It wasn't a buffet, but instead we were handed a menu. On the menu there were no vegetarian options. I then asked if I could have something without meat. They brought me a plate of chips, frozen peas and carrots and tinned mushrooms! My husband liked the fish and chips he got for dinner.
We had noisy neighbours so were kept awake during the night.
The next day we rang our travel agent and asked to change hotel. We didn't have dinner again at this hotel.
Breakfast was ok, just ok. At the first breakfast we had a young guy who was really nice and helpful. The following morning we had an older waiter. He asked us if we wanted anything hot. My husband ordered an omelette, when the waiter brought it to the table, he said Adios! Not Bon Appetite, enjoy or anything, just Adios. Well, Adios it was to the whole hotel, we will not be back.
As for the location, it is too far from the centre and anything interesting. We paid 7 euros for taxi from Fuengirola train station to the hotel and then 5 euros back to the train station. It is too far to walk if you have luggage. The good point is that the hotel is on the promenade although some walk to bars. The Sunday market is literally round the corner, but I would not go out of this hotel on my own after dark. The area seems a bit dodgy.

Room Tip: Go and ask for another room if you're not happy with the first one

Situated on the outskirts of Fuengirola, close to the Castle, this hotel enjoys an excellent position, close to the beach and not far from the centre of town. Rooms were adequate, clean and tidy with a side-on balcony view. Evening restaurant was excellent, breakfast restaurant was a little bit crushed, just need some more space around the breakfast buffet. Food was good, staff were excellent. Been there several times, likely to go there again.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have much better views but need the use of lifts.

Just back from this hotel. It is registered as a 4 star, but in my opinion it is not.
Food average and very repetitive.
Décor very dull and corridors not very bright.
The sun loungers could also do with replacements.

If this is a 4 star rated hotel then I would like to question the persons who rate hotels. Firstly there was no drink facility in the bedrooms and outside breakfast and dinner times no where in the hotel were drinks or food available. Both Breakfast and Dinner were self service and the daily menu did not match the choice of food stuffs available. The bar ran a so called "Happy Hour" when like it not you had to be served two of any ordered drink and we had to pay for both not as "happy hour" I know it where you buy one and get one free. Our first day at breakfast we had to move the remains of other peoples left over breakfast and eat ours among the debris left on surrounding tables - not a good start or encouraging. I think the star rating should be at least 2 not 4.

Room Tip: We only viewed one room so can not comment on rooms

The hotel is clean and staff friendly. Room (suite) cleaned every day, beds made and fresh towels every day. We had to ask for towels one day as maid forgot to leave them. House keeping delivered towels in 15 mins. We had to ask for a stopper for the bath and a light blew in our sitting room. Maintenance was with us within half an hour. Our only complaint was the indoor pool which was undergoing maintenance which we were not advised of at the time of booking, we booked the hotel for the use of the indoor pool as our stay was in November. However, poolside was ideal for sunbathing, we didn't dare use the pool, too cold. The gym etc was nice, I asked to be shown round and I would have paid for a massage but they closed at 1.30pm, I would have prefered to have my massage at the end of the day, say 6pm. They maybe open all day at high season. We only had breakfast and the hot dishes never changed, hot dog style sausages, tomato, beans, bacon, scrambled and fried eggs. Plenty other cold choices, you would never go hungry. Hotel at beach front, you don't have to walk far to the zoo, shopping centre. Supermarket, turn left outside hotel then right, walk to roundabout, not far, 5 mins! We took a bus to Marbella 3.25 euros each, one way. Bus Depot not far but all you will see is a box office, the train station is the next road up behind the bus depot. Distance from hotel 20 min walk. If you have late check-out ask for courtesy room, no charge, basic room on 11th floor, shower, soap and towels. Happy holiday!

Room Tip: We were on the 5th floor with a seaview, noise level low.
