“Amazing place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

Carmona is a pretty little town and the Parador is situated on the edge of the town with amazing far reaching views over the surrounding countryside. Our room and bathroom were spacious and furnished in a traditional style. We enjoyed the wonderful views from our balcony. it was worth the expense just to have that view! The swimming pool looked lovely but opened the next day for the summer. The restaurant was well worth it, lovely food but they failed to replenish the sweet buffet and also the breakfast buffet in the morning which is a little unusual. The town can been seen in a morning and we couldn't find any nice restaurants but didn't try too hard as we had decided on eating at the Parador.

Although this parador is a bit out of the way from the usual tourist stops we loved it. The views were breath taking and the whole experience brought relaxation to a weary travel group. The breakfast was lovely. If you need WI-FI you have to work hard at finding the right spot in the lobby but everyone needs a break from the tech world once in a while. Highly recommend.

Hotel is hidden behind a fortress wall, but magical and dramatic entrance to modern (1976) hotel. Completed in 1992 I believe, but you would not know it for ambiance. Majestic location above fertile plain. Decorating was extremely attractive in public areas. Although, the prettiest room was usually locked.
Goats were being herded below to different fields and then led back to corrals. They bunched up behind the farmer, some stopping to munch, then running to catch up, or be herded by dog.
Agree with indifferent service from front desk to restaurant. Food average, though not cheap. Decent wine list.
Suggest they start breakfast earlier as most clients were touring and anxious to start their day.

The hotel is straightforward to find - well signposted. As you drive through the historic gateway into the courtyard / car park you feel you've come somewhere special. The rooms were beautiful with fabulous views across the plains - you're so high up. There is a lovely mosaic tiled courtyard with a fountain where you can sit and have a drink and take in the atmosphere.
We ate in the restaurant both nights as a lot of the local places were closed over the Easter weekend (something we hadn't expected). The menu was very good with an excellent buffet table for desserts. The dining room was quite an amazing room - check out other peoples' photos. We found the staff very pleasant and helpful.
Although this hotel was well out of usual price range, it was a wondederful treat for a special occasion and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone.

Great hotel, lovely restaurant stunning views of countryside in a really historic town. The restaurant was great and good value - pity the service in the bar beforehand was poor. Reception staff were very helpful. Great place to stay if you don't want to be in the middle of Seville which only took us 40 mins by car to the Centre.

Every day I would remind the front desk staff to smile and welcome the incoming guest. If I'm paying a s@@tload of money for a room I don't expect to be standing at reception on check in wondering it I'm wearing an invisibility cloak. If it wasn't for the outstanding surroundings (isn't this exactly what you expect from a parador?) then I'd probably give it 3 stars. In this category of hotel, i dont expect to ask for a decaf coffee and return to my seat, after a turn round the buffet, to find a sachet of instant decaf coffee waiting for me. Incidentally, this was the 4th hotel of our trip and the worst coffee, instant or otherwise. The shower wasn't very powerful and had a variable temperature. One minute you were ok, the next you were scalded, and then it went cold. ??? And our in room safe didn't work. After trying for 10 minutes to work it out in the darkest depths of an unlit closet I finally called down to reception, who sent up a man with a magnetic card. Obviously at check in, we didn't seem the types to need a safe (see invisibility cloak above) but even with the magic card, it didn't work. The door wasn't aligned properly. And finally it would have been nice if there had been one public area where you could have had a drink without little kids making a racket, but that was the least of the problems. Just ask the staff to smile a bit more. It's not rocket science and it's not even expensive!

We arrived at the Parador in the evening and just followed the signs through the town. We were directed through some narrow one way streets and then suddenly you arrive at the castle gate and we parked outside until we realized that you can drive through and park in the courtyard inside the walls which was lots of fun. The staff at the front desk were very helpful and we had a lovely room with a terrific view out over the countryside. We also had dinner at the Parador as we had heard that the food was good but I didn't think it was all that impressive for the price and found the service more formal than friendly. It was so much fun to stay in the castle tho - and worth the money just to drive through the gate!
