The main problem with this hotel is the management. This seems to be a running theme with most of the other reviews. We can't all be wrong!
My husband and I scheduled a 3-night stay at this hotel in September 2004 to coincide with a festival that was to be taking place in Seville. Two things happened after we arrived: One, we discovered the festival was canceled; two, the hotel did not meet our expectations. Most of the wonderful things mentioned in the ad for the hotel are overrated. The swimming pool (size of a postage stamp), the grounds, the rooms, etc. Our room was very small and in need of repair. Faucets were broken. The bed was terrible. It was the most uncomfortable mattress we have ever slept in. Since the festival was canceled and the hotel was unacceptable we decided to go elsewhere. The receptionist at check-out tried to charge us for the whole stay and said it was their policy for early departure. I make it a point of copying everything I am given in regard to my confirmation and there was no mention of such a policy. She agreed to only charge us the one night. When we returned from our trip and I checked my bank, I found with horror that the hotel charged my credit card without my knowledge or consent for the remaining two nights. The manager, Felipe Guardiola, refuses to refund this money maintaining that this is the policy of the hotel. I have checked two or three websites, including the hotel's own, making bogus reservations and then canceling immediately, and NO policy is mentioned regarding penalty of payment in full for early departure. This is theft and they should be punished. I have made strides in that regard by having them removed from at least two websites. Also, you will not find this hotel in the listing of Relais and Chateaux any longer.
