“Great View from the 7th floor.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

Stayed here over Easter 2013, was in transit to Morocco and had 4 days to kill. They put me on the 7th and top floor so i had a balcony and a great view over the dock and over to Gibralta.

The room was very clean, as also was the bathroom with a fab all glass wash basin. I want one.

The staff where polite and helpful even though they where working through what is there biggest festival of the year. Easter.

The restaurant had a simple but ok menu, and breakfast was always plentiful.

Room Tip: Ask for the top floor.

We choose this hotel for its proximity to the bus and ferries to Morocco. It was very nice, as was the town of Algeciras. Parking was free out front and the staff was helpful. They steered us to a local restaurant, Meson la Posada de Millan which was close by and superb.

Our room was modern, clean, comfortable, spacious and quiet and included all the amenities.
We found the staff helpful and kind. Parking and breakfast were included. The hotel was a bargain. It is a modern building shared with an NH Hotel, so be sure you enter the correct door. It was a treat to be able to find the hotel so easily. It was on GPS as well as well-marked on road signs. We felt comfortable leaving our car and baggage at the hotel for a short trip ferry to Tangier.

Not as far out of town as I was expecting based on some of the reviews. Took about 10-15 minutes to walk to the north end of the town centre (but we are brisk walkers). There is an El Corte Ingles department store half as far on the way into town with a nice cafe outside (up the stairs) for breakfast and an Hipercor (large grocery store) to stock up on previsions for the train or ferry. Rooms are modern and very clean, excellent value. There was a bit of noise from the hallway and the room next door, but not too bad. Room was a bit hot (in February!) at night, even after turning down the heat, so we opened the window for a while. Front desk staff was very pleasant. Cab to the train station cost about 7 or 8 euros including 2 pieces of luggage. I would definitely stay here again.

Algeciras is a small, "border-town," so I really wasn't expecting much of this one-day stopover before continuing north to Granada. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by this simple, very chic, very clean hotel with amazing amenities and really good service.

The rooms have a modern decor with clean lines and a sort-of minimalist tendency. The small fridge is stocked with sodas, juices and water, which are all free of charge. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom spotless. The view was amazing. I had a 5th floor room which overlooked the port, the Gibraltar rock beyond it, and the small town.

The hotel has a lounge area next to the lobby with free Internet service. They also offer complimentary soft drinks and coffee all day long.

This is really a great place. I wish there were more places like it at this price point in other places around the world.

At the risk of sounding petty, my only wish would be that they extend their free wi-fi coverage to the rooms. Other than that, by all means, book a room!

The postcode we had for this hotel was wrong and no locals had heard of it, so after an early start in Marrakesh and a lengthy ferry crossing, it was tiresome to spend 90 mins driving around to find the hotel.
However it was probably our fault, I suggest you get a map sorted before you travel.
The hotel was good, modern and stylish, my room was really nice, the en suite was very plush, the view over the docks not so good but better at night with all the lights etc.
We decided to eat out that night which was not the best decision, we wandered around for ages before we stumbled on a restaurant, which was very average.
Breakfast at the hotel was good, lots of coffee which was appreciated. Staff were helpful etc and I thought the overall experience was pleasant and good value

3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

We booked this hotel through a booking agency who allocated it to us because it was close to Gibraltar, we stayed for four nights but the hotel itself is at least a twenty minutes drive from Gibraltar a taxi each way is €25-€30 depending how the driver was feeling, we asked the man at the front desk for directions to the bus stop at which we were given a really bad photocopied map and told it was at least a forty minute walk to the bus station we did try to find it but gave up.

The hotel itself just has nothing close to it apart from the Harbour so it did have nice views, there is a department store about a five minute walk away which kept us busy for about half an hour, it’s outside here where you can get a taxi from. There looks like there used to be a nice bar across the road but that was closed could be because we went out of season but it did look like it had closed permanently. There aren’t many restaurants near by in fact one night after walking for what seemed like miles we just ended up getting a cab to La Linea for the evening. There is a little café a few minutes walk from the hotel which is ok for breakfast but no one spoke any English and the menu was not in English but hay you are in Spain!

The rooms at the hotel were spacious and very clean could not fault that at all; fresh towels every day and complimentary toiletries. The walls were very thin and we were woken up at 4am by other guests talking very loudly in their room. There was a large flat screen tv in the room and out of the twenty or so channels there was an English news channel but lets face it you don’t go on holiday to watch tv! There is a free mini bar in the room with free bottles of water and soft drinks. The hotel is very business like and modern.

We went to the restaurant in the hotel one evening it didn’t open until 7pm, it was a very limited menu but the food was ok but there was no atmosphere at all.

We used the fitness room which consists of three machines, also opens up into a fairly big terrace which is great for sunbathing, there’s also a free mini bar in the fitness room.

Overall do not use this hotel as a bass for visiting Gibraltar everyday – too far and too expensive to get to but for a stop over it would probley suit fine as comfortable and clean. The location is such a let down for this hotel apart from the Harbour and the department store there is NOTHING near by at all for entertainment.
