“Weekend in Sinaia”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

My general impression, New Montana is a 3*+ hotel.
The personnel appears to works hard to maintain this hotel.
The rooms need a little bit of reconditioning.
I have stayed in a room with street view at 4th floor. If you open the door or window is very noisy.
The most unpleasant it was the cooking smell from the front terrace!

Pros:
- hotel position in city center
- large parking place
- big pool
- polite personnel
Cons:
- lack of disable access
- poor breakfast. Fast food oriented
- small number of tv programs
- no direct access to the pool. You need to go through reception area.

Room Tip: Choose oposite room from main road side, for a better sleep.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your visit to New Montana Hotel! Your kind review help us to keep up with the good work in order to improve our services. Each “plus” or “minus” from our guests is analysed by the management and, as much as possible, we try to fix immediately all problems, but some of them are long time investments (room renovation, disable access) Thank you for your understanding and we hope that you become a loyal client to our hotel.

If you're not sure where to stay in Sinaia, you can safely go to New Montana. The rooms are ok: the beds are comfortable (maybe a little hard, but that's how I preffer them), they have flat TVs with few stations (HBO included ;) ) and the bathrooms are nice enough for a 4* hotel. Breakfast was more than decent, with all the basics and a little more, like pancakes made on the spot, which I enjoyed. Having breakfast or at least the coffee on the outside terrace is very pleasant! If you stay at the hotel you can park for free, they have plenty of space. The pool is also ok.
A little dissapointment: the otherwise nice and thick carpet was not exactly clean (e.g. some difficult to remove chewing gum marks, but it should be taken care of). Employees are indeed a little... distant, let's say, but if you approach them they are quite polite and helpful.
Take into consideration that in this period of time there are major renovation works on the street in central Sinaia which can be quite annoying (getting to and from the hotel, dust and noise). You may want to stay in a room on the back of the hotel, but you won't have a balcony... Feel free to assess the situation and ask at the reception a room that fits your need ;)

Room Tip: Back rooms are quieter, but have no balcony.

Do not be fooled by the name of this hotel as it was built in 1973 so it certainly isn't new! The hotel is well positioned in Sinaia and close to amenities. The public areas were okay but I felt that the whole hotel needed an update. The bedrooms were very basic and the bathrooms needed updating. However, it was clean but not well appointed and the beds were extremely hard so much so that a lot of us ended up with backache. There was no air conditioning and with temperatures of 30+ you needed it. The food was okay and there was a nice outside eating area (if you could get served). Breakfasts were okay and there was a lot of choice. I didn't find the staff at this hotel friendly or helpful. The one saving grace it has is that it does have a swimming pool and sauna but do not expect a swim before breakfast as the pool does not open until 10.00am!

Room Tip: Do not have a room at the front of the hotel as you will never sleep with all the noise. However, i...

Dear Guest,

We would like to thank you for choosing New Montana hotel! We appreciate that you took the time to share your experience at our hotel. You should notice that, even if the construction year is 1973, Montana hotel was renovated in 2000 and got his new name: New Montana Hotel. We are trying to update each year a different area of the hotel and we started 2 years ago with the lobby and the restaurant. As for the air condition, Sinaia resort has a cold climate almost all year, the average temperature in summer (july–august) is 25 degrees C and the management considered that air condition system is not necessary for a couple of hot days.
Your remarks help us to improve the quality of our services and your next visit will find us better and more dedicated to our clients because we keep working on the renewal of our standards and facilities.

Kind regards,
PR Department

We were part of a tour group. Our room was clean and comfortable, but the services were minimal. The included breakfast was typically European and marginal at best.. Based on comments from other guests. we avoided dinner in lieu of local choices.

Room Tip: All appear satisfactory

The room was simple but nicely furnished. The bathroom very clean and comfortable. The hotel seems overall well maintained even though I couldn't stop noticing the lack of wheelchair access. Even without any handicap, it is uncomfortable carrying your luggage up the stairs.
We only had breakfast at the hotel's restaurant but we were very satisfied with the quality and the variation of the food provided.
The service was excellent, from the personal at the front desk to the waiters in the restaurant.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your kind review. We have noticed your remarks about the lack of wheelchair access and we must inform you that a project for disabled persons access needs special approvals from the local authorities and we’ve been waiting for this approval for 2 years. Mean time, our clients can use the bell boys services for luggage up the entrance stairs. Hope you had a nice stay in our hotel.

Kind regards,

We spet an week-end there. What can I say is that it isi not a 4 stars hotel. It is more 3*. The room is ok, but still to small. We had e view to the center of the city. It was nice, but the noise was really strong, so we has to sleep with all the windows closed.
We were with our little baby and they gave us for free the baby bed, which was really ok.
The location of the hotel is a good one, right in the center and very closed to a lot of restaurants and bars.
The breakfast was poor, not a 4* hotel's one. The variety of the was was limited

I spend here my summer vacation with my family and I enjoyed very much this hotel. We had all we needed for rainy days inside the hotel. The SPA is comfortable and the cocktails are great! The view from the balcony was so relaxing. I recommend it!
The only discomfort thing was at check in, there is no ramp or lift for the luggage, but if you talk with the receptionist all will be arranged and a guy from hotel will help you and bring them all directly to your room.
