“Clean, easy but Bland”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012 via mobile

It works, it's clean and friendly, you will need to master the heating, turn the radiators down if you are too warm. The staff are courteous and helpful, they do what is necessary do not expect them to use initiative, they will help and assist and put things right if they are made aware of any problems or issues.
Food is basic and presented well they do not claim to provide anything else.
On a positive note it is an easy place to stay, the location is easy to find and very central to the town, there is nothing to disclose about it.

I was here for 3 nights with Grand Circle pre cruise trip. Hotel is nice, but does not have a/c, and with the windows open (and even closed), you are troubled all night by barking dogs near the hotel. (Claimed to be barking at bears, but I think dogs just like to bark). Maybe they are strays.
Breakfast buffet is good. Some of the breakfast staff seem to speak little English. I asked for a fried egg, and the cook just stared at me, so I gave up and have scrambled eggs. I asked a male desk clerk for change for my local currency bill, and he said "we don't have that". Strange that a desk clerk does not have local currency.
2 free wifi computers across from the lobby.
Sinaia is probably mainly a ski town, and is rather small, but does have several restaurants and tourist shops. You can see most of the town in less than a day.
Grand Circle used it for a base on the Translvania tour. I would not book independently as I think there are nearby towns that offer more variety. (and maybe no barking or better insulation)

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room away from the barking dogs.

Were in suite, 2 rooms linked together. Although renovated, still some signs of wear and tear, bed is not international standard, reasonably clean, centrally located. Lobby standard business hotel, nothing real bad or good. Breakfast quite mediocre in typical big hotel restaurant room. Hotels in Sinaia are not the best in general, new montana apparently above average.

Stayed at the New Montana Hotel in Sinaia for a three day conference. Location-wise it was good: in a quiet main road, near a park and only a 6 Lei (1-2 euro) taxi ride away from the castle. Room was comfortable and clean and also had a real mattress on the bed-none of that foam-on-futon nonsense which has become so customary in European hotels of late. Hotel also had a large indoor pool and jacuzzi for the use of guests.

We had all our meals there and they were perfectly adequate, some classics but also with a bit of Romanian food thrown in, too. There was always a good vegetarian option which once again was greatly appreciated. And the staff were always ready to help and accommodate.

I tend to agree with a previous reviewer who stated that it was impossible to open the windows at night due to the dogs' barking: and unfortunately the room was too hot then. Not exactly the hotel's fault but perhaps they could invest, if not in AC units, in some ceiling fans which would help. Sinaia gets pretty warm in summer.

Another problem that we had was the wifi signal: many times during our workshops the connection slowed down or dropped completely. We were admittedly a large group however one would expect to be able to go online at all times.

Overall a good hotel, nicely located and with very nice attentive staff.

The 4 stars are given for the services the hotel provides - not quality.
Would I stay here again? No, I would go for one of the pensions like Vila Camelia which cost half and where you can keep the windows open during night time.

We have been there as a group (adults with children) for the Mind Lab Olympics.
The hotel is well situated, the lobby, the bar, the restaurant are nice. The rooms also but do not expect air conditioning. It has a swimming pool and a whirlpool as well as two saunas (one for women and one for men). The swimming pool area is nice but the sauna and the whirlpool (it smelled bad!) are as if left from older times. I had this mixed impresson for the entire hotel: some parts are brand new and others old - still to improve.
Buffet breakfast was really good but they do not have full corn bread and the croissant was really not good, but I think that romanian pastry in general does not taste good.
The glasses for toothbrushing were missing from the bathroom. I had to ask four times until we got two: they were red wine glasses! But I was happy with them at last!

Room Tip: The street side can be very noisy.

We stayed here for 2 nights, as part of a tour. We found the hotel to be extremely comfortable, the rooms are large, with TV and free wi-fi and the Olympic-sized heated swimming pool was absolutely wonderful! We thought it was all maintained to a very high standard, it was very clean and light and the staff where helpful and polite. The toiletries are lovely, all olive-oil based and very luxurious. The hotel is owned by Cypriots, who do a very good job. Many meetings and conferences are held here as it is near Bucharest, but far more pleasant to stay in. There is even an Irish pub a few doors down!

On the downside, the barking dogs are a nuisance, but that is beyond the control of the hotel and is to be found in many other places as well. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Make sure you bring your swimming things
