“Beautiful Views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

We had the front room on the second floor and the view was gorgeous. The hotel is immaculate, the people are all very friendly, the food in the restaurant was one of the best meals we have had in Portugal. In short, this is a great place! Oh, the rooms are typically European small, but who notices. IEven the other rooms will have a bit of a view of the beach, as well as of the interesting square.

The hotel is right along the beach - the best location in town. There's a small square to the side of the hotel so you get a great view of the Nazare cliffs, lighthouse, funicular as well as the beautiful ocean. Our ocean view room with balcony, #303, was very compact, especially the bathroom, but very clean and functional. The balcony is very small, only enough room for two chairs, but a perfect place to sit and enjoy the view and people watch. The balcony is only separated by a short wall with the adjoining rooms so not very private. The Wi-Fi worked fine in our room. Hot water maker and tea bags in room. Tea and cake were set out in the lobby in the afternoon. The included breakfast was adequate (breads, jams, cold cuts, cheeses, juices and coffee). The breakfast room has a great ocean view. We left a "do not disturb" sign out and left everything out (electronics - I know, it's not a smart thing to do on our part.) and the room a mess thinking no one will come in. The maid came and cleaned the room anyway. Although we were a little annoyed, we didn't want her to get in trouble so we didn't say anything to the hotel....She really put extra effort into cleaning the room (put my makeup away in my makeup bag, etc.) and it's like she really took pride in her work so we thought that made up for the mix-up. We left the maid a tip.

The Hotel Mar Bravo is a small hotel located on the town's main square right on the beach. My partner and I stayed in an ocean front room, but I think the ocean view rooms are just as good for a lot less money. All rooms have balconies. It was great to be able to open the window at night and go to sleep listening to waves crash on the beach. The rooms are small but are very clean and pleasant. Parking is at a sister property a few blocks away in a secure garage. The walk is not bad at all. There is a restaurant on the property and lots of other bars and restaurants are nearby.

The hotel is also located very close to the Sitio funicular station. You can't go to Nazare without also going up to Sitio. The views are spectacular. And don't forget to try some barnacles!

Room Tip: Don't spend the money on ocean front. Ocean view rooms are just as nice. Higher floor is best...

Mar Bravo is ideally located on the beach, and near the main square in town. While small, the rooms are clean and bright, and have nice balconies to enjoy the scenic views. Breakfast is basic, and wi-fi service during our visit was being upgraded to provide service outside the main lobby area. Service is friendly and the hotel provided a great recommendation (Nelson) for a convenient and reasonably priced taxi trip to Obidos and Alcobaca.

For the most part, staying at Mar Bravo was enjoyable. The location is its best attribute as it is right across the street from the beach. We loved the balcony where you could sit out and enjoy the view. The staff is very friendly and welcoming.

The room was small as was the bath. Wi-fi only works on the first floor near the reception area. Breakfast was not good at all. The coffee, in particular, is some of the worst I've ever had.

Despite the mixed experience here, I'd recommend it for the location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony and sea view

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

Stayed two nights at Hotel Mar Bravo and you cannot beat the location. View of the beach, right on the main strip. Some expectation management: the rooms are small but clean. Also, the Wifi connection is weak above the main floor-I stayed on the 3rd floor and couldn't connect to the signal. Overall very friendly staff and a good, reasonably priced option for a small beach town.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

I'm a sucker for clean, modern-looking properties and Mar Bravo fits the bill. The decor has plenty of white and ocean blue. The staff was helpful. Breakfast was "fine" but not outstanding.

Room size was on the smallsh side, but acceptable. Parking was included at another property 5-10 minutes away by foot.

Room Tip: Paid 44€ for a room without a balcony/ocean view - if I had to do it again, I'd spend the extra...
