I am obligated to report this openly, although I truly do not enjoy this...yet, I depended upon the accounts taken from the Tripadvisor and so I must let you all know my opinion based upon our real experience at the Ashley Park House... I am so sorry to state that this was a horrible place to stay. All of our other accommodations where brilliant... but hear me out here.... There was no water in the house, cold or hot.... and the two dungeon rooms we got that were suposed to be ensuite (not that it mattered since there was no water to use the bathroom anyways, couldn't even brush our teeth never-the-less do anything else; if you know what I mean) were damp, smelly, buggy (both dead and live flies and live spiders), swampy and very unfriendly...actually no lock on our doors from the inside only from the outside and a public dark basement hallway just off our basement rooms to the broken germy bathroom.... need I say more... cause there is more, including the fact that full over-price was requested upon our early departure....imagine...full price for no water....that was backwards..... Would you want to stay for breakfast in a house that had no running water? Think about that!.... It was a horrible torture chamber of a stay... Yuk.... We were so happy to leave there that we ran out as soon as morning broke, although we were still exhausted from given no rest found there. We were sick from the experience and very dissapointed. One wonders why their website was so beauty - full of lovely expresions of some wonderful story book place that little girls just love being at and a gracious place to stay and not the truth of an enchanted and apparently cursed house full of broken falling apart rooms and dungeons. Our teenage daughter could not feel slightly comfortable and had to join us in our room for the sleepless night at this ill-equiped broken down un-safe house and grounds. What a pity!

My brother and I stayed at Ashley Park for 2 nights to attend a wedding in Nenagh. The hotel was very easy to find and was only a 50 minute drive from Shannon Airport.

On arrival, we were pleasantly greeted by Margaret and shown to our room. Unfortunately there had been a muddle up and we had been given a double room instead of twin. Margaret was very apologetic but we decided to just stay with the room. The room was a bit small but had a great view over the lake. In terms of the décor, the room was very in keeping with the house, but if you are looking for a modern hotel, this is not the place for you. The plumbing and electricity creaked a bit but I suppose that was part of the charm.

That said, the next day we were moved to a different room at the back of the house – a twin room and also with hot water (there was no hot water in our first room).
The breakfast in the morning was lovely and cooked to order. We explored the surrounding fields and lake after breakfast – worth a look before heading into Nenagh for the wedding.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. It was a lovely little place to stay for one or two nights. The clientele was slightly older so you will certainly get peaceful nights sleep and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Overall, a great little B&B.

They Ashley Park is definately a wonderfully romantic place to stay and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

The interior is absolutely beautiful! I felt as though I was doing a tour of a historic home but actually got to go into the rooms and sit on the furniture! The President's room could not be more impressive with it's four poster bed, large seating area and fire place.

The grounds of the home were enjoyable to walk around through. The Garden needs a bit of work to bring it to the standard set by the interior of the home but there seemed to be work being done. It's a big area and will take quite some time.

Our host was wonderful and offered us tea upon arrival. I just had to have my husband take my picture sipping tea in this room! We had to leave early to get to the airport and they were very accomodating in getting us an early breakfast.

In addition to just being a wonderful B&B, they also serve dinner (at an extra cost of course). There was us and another couple and we all truly loved everything that we ate. We were served a delicious four course meal for 35 euros each and we were able to get a decent bottle of wine for 22.

I highly recommend taking a night off from the pubs and making the drive out to The Ashley Park. It is certainly a wonderful place.

It is the kind of house that little girls dream of. No brochure, website or review can do this experience justice!  Our host, Mr. Mounsey was charming, gracious and helpful.  He grew up in the area and told fabulous stories about obtaining and saving this gem of a house from a dilapidated state. Our room, the large red suite, was spectacular.  I loved the long, mahogany  tub and period bath fixtures.  We had a turf fire in the room. The bed linens were crisp, the bed comfortable. There were peacocks roaming the grounds.  We visited during a wintery snap and the whole house was surprisingly warm and comfortable.  I could gush on but our visit was unforgettable.  I can only imagine if it had been warm enough to take out the boat for a turn around the lake or a stroll through the lush walled gardens.
