One must eat here if you live in NWA. It's got the feel of an old Chicago bar with low ceilings-just plain fun. The staff are all polite -food is awesome Americana.

Everyone reading this needs to visit Hugo's at least once. The place has been on the Square for years.
Hugo's always seems busy so you may have to wait.
I recommend starting with the mandarin and red onion salad with poppy seed dressing. The burgers are great and cooked to order---they are served with chips, but get the hand cut fries instead. The grilled trout is also very good, as are the crepes and sandwiches, but I have a hard time not getting a burger.
Overall I would say this is one of Fayetteville's most unique dining experiences that you should experience. The prices are also good!

It very well may be. The burgers at Hugo's are darn-near perfect. Cooked to your order, unlike many places that offer your burger as a burnt offering to appease the anti-lawsuit dieties. It's a very unusual setting, in the basement of a building, with a stairway entrance down from the street level, a la "Cheers". Sadly, I didn't save room for the grasshopper crepes, which looked sinfully delicious on their way to someone else's table. Check Hugo's out...you'll be glad you did!

Start with a Blue Moon Burger (undeniably the best burger in the area), share a basket of fries, wash it down with a Black and Tan, then, finish off with a Grasshopper Crepe. This former typewriter repair shop has been here for ages, its a Fayetteville classic for its cool and cavernous atmosphere. Its where the locals go.
