“a wonderful stay”

Inn at Carnall Hall

After a long day of driving, I came upon the Inn at Carnall Hall. From the outside, it looked like a very comfortable place to spend the night. When I first entered, the front desk staff seemed unorganized and messy, but Drew Henley really stood out and made me feel welcome after a long day of traveling. He set me up with a wonderful room, and it really had some great furniture and bed. I wished I could've stayed longer and take a look around the area, but I had to make my way back home the next day. I was definitely satisfied with my experience.

“...interesting”

The front desk staff and work area seemed very unorganized, and it was definitely apparent that the desk was run by college students. It's like they made an attempt to have uniforms, but some employees were ragged around the edges. While I was greeted when I approached the desk, only one of the clerks stood up to make any attempt to help me, and once the standing one got busy helping me, the other seemed go back to what they were doing on the internet.

The staff turned out to be VERY friendly and VERY helpful and VERY attentive to my needs, however.

While the amenities in the room were very nice, the layout didn't really work, and the bed was a little firm.

This is a beautiful building with plenty of charm. The restaurant meals were excellent and the hotel has a lovely lounge however
When we booked we were told that for $10 a night more we would get a bigger room therefore we booked the larger room. When we got to the hotel we found the only difference was where the view from your room window was to.The room is very small and really only caters for 1 guest per room.
The hotel advertises high speed internet for each room. For the 3 nights we stayed there the internet did not work at all. Neither wireless or cable. Each day we complained and they said thay would do something about it. Nothing changed. We spoke with fellow guests and they all appeared to have the same problems which appear to be ongoing. Not pleasant if you are on business.

The Inn at Carnall Hall is located on the U of A campus and is convenient to campus events. That was our main reason for staying there. The rooms are expensive and we assumed that the rooms would be comfortable. Unlike others who reviewed this hotel, our room was not well-appointed. Our room had a bed, an entertainment center, a nightstand, and a luggage holder. The bed was our only place to sit. Because the room's door did not fit tightly, noise and light from the outside hallway filtered into the room. We had one window with a view of the roof. The room was immaculate which was a plus. We do not know what the food was like there. We had hoped to go to Sunday brunch but did not realize reservations were necessary. The cleanliness, convenient location, and beautiful renovation were appreciated, but we will stay where it is more comfortable on our next trip to Fayetteville.

“Great location, charming with some minor problems...”

Inn at Carnall Hall

If you have to stay in Fayetteville, this is the place to stay! It is charming having been recently renovated. The room we had was large, nicely furnished and clean.

The location can not be beat. It's really the only option if you want to stay near the university or walk to the town which is just a few blocks away.

Re the restaurant in the hotel - we found the breakfasts average or poor quality (store bought bagels and other processed type of foods) BUT we had to eat lunch there one day and we were shocked at how good it was, very fresh and high quality, it was really superb, comparable to any high quality restaurant in a large city like SF. So good we had dinner there the same day, it was the best steak I have ever had, and the hamburger at lunch is also fabulous!

Our guess is that the hotel does the breakfasts and the real Ella's restaurant does the lunch and dinner - that is the only way we could explain the huge discrepancy between the poor quality of the breakfasts and the high quality of the lunch and dinners. Which is too bad because the breakfasts mislead the guests about what they really offer.

The other thing is that the front desk seems to be run mainly by students who don't really have the professionalism or grace needed to make this a higher end hotel. It's obviously a very popular place to stay and the front desk staff has a somewhat jaded attitude, they don't have the professionalism to know that even if their hotel is popular, it's still nice to treat your guests like they are important.

But all in all, it's a lovely place to stay, you'll notice that every time you walk in the door and see the gleaming hardwood floors and lovely staircase.
