The Inn at Carnall Hall is located on the U of A campus and is convenient to campus events. That was our main reason for staying there. The rooms are expensive and we assumed that the rooms would be comfortable. Unlike others who reviewed this hotel, our room was not well-appointed. Our room had a bed, an entertainment center, a nightstand, and a luggage holder. The bed was our only place to sit. Because the room's door did not fit tightly, noise and light from the outside hallway filtered into the room. We had one window with a view of the roof. The room was immaculate which was a plus. We do not know what the food was like there. We had hoped to go to Sunday brunch but did not realize reservations were necessary. The cleanliness, convenient location, and beautiful renovation were appreciated, but we will stay where it is more comfortable on our next trip to Fayetteville.

“Great location, charming with some minor problems...”

If you have to stay in Fayetteville, this is the place to stay! It is charming having been recently renovated. The room we had was large, nicely furnished and clean.

The location can not be beat. It's really the only option if you want to stay near the university or walk to the town which is just a few blocks away.

Re the restaurant in the hotel - we found the breakfasts average or poor quality (store bought bagels and other processed type of foods) BUT we had to eat lunch there one day and we were shocked at how good it was, very fresh and high quality, it was really superb, comparable to any high quality restaurant in a large city like SF. So good we had dinner there the same day, it was the best steak I have ever had, and the hamburger at lunch is also fabulous!

Our guess is that the hotel does the breakfasts and the real Ella's restaurant does the lunch and dinner - that is the only way we could explain the huge discrepancy between the poor quality of the breakfasts and the high quality of the lunch and dinners. Which is too bad because the breakfasts mislead the guests about what they really offer.

The other thing is that the front desk seems to be run mainly by students who don't really have the professionalism or grace needed to make this a higher end hotel. It's obviously a very popular place to stay and the front desk staff has a somewhat jaded attitude, they don't have the professionalism to know that even if their hotel is popular, it's still nice to treat your guests like they are important.

But all in all, it's a lovely place to stay, you'll notice that every time you walk in the door and see the gleaming hardwood floors and lovely staircase.

I recently stayed two nights at the Inn at Carnall Hall. It is a lovely building, with many well appointed rooms. I had a great experience with the staff, who was incredibly helpful when I found myself in a crisis (thanks to American Airlines who lost my luggage). Kudos to them. The room was a bit on the dark side, but spacious, well appointed and with the plus of a thermostat so you have the room as warm or cool as you wanted it. Bathroom was spotless, with nice towels and toiletries. The restaurant is pleasant, but I was a bit disappointed in the food: good stuff, just unremarkable. Breakfast, as some already pointed out, it nothing fancy (plain bagels, cream cheese, fruit and some pastries and cereals-nothing looked homemade). The hotel has wireless internet which you can enjoy on the porch with a nice view of the campus (which was gorgeous with fall colors).
Overall, a great stay, except for the noise factor. The elevator emits a very loud "Bling!" when it reaches the floor. During the day it is not a problem, but this hotel hosted a rehearsal dinner and in general has a nice bar which is open until very late. So, until about 2.30 I would be woken up by people going back to their rooms. It did not help that some of these people were too drunk, or too rude (or both) to figure out that laughing loudly after 2am is not a good idea. Same for the family whose little kids the next night were yelling and laughing until past 11pm. The hotel is not to blame for rude people, of course.
Overall, a very pleasant stay, but it could have been better.

I wanted to have a weekend getaway for my husband's 60th birthday. Fayetteville is a wonderful town with shopping in a three city area and Dickson street is a hopping college area. There could not have been a more perfect place for for friends to gather for a laid back weekend. The hotel is right on the U of A campus and I knew we were at the right place when we pulled up to roses blooming at the entrance and white rockers on the porch. Even better, friends who had arrived earlier were already settled in on the veranda with wine and cigars, waving to us as we pulled up. Three hours later we made our way to Dickson street for a late dinner. I found the continental breakfast very adequate and one may also order additional items such a french pressed coffee and eggs benedict. The rooms are spotless and comfortable,,,,remember, this was a woman's dorm at the turn of the century, so it is not a Hyatt. We found it charming and this group is well traveled. The bar (Lambeth's) is well appointed and Ryan is most accomodating . He even opened up 2 hours earlier on Saturday so the husbands could watch the OU game on their big screen.
Look at their web site, it is a very good representation of the facility. One may rent the whole place for a wedding weekend. I cannot imagine anything nicer. Note U of A football weekends are booked 2 years out.
Side comment I had the birthday dinner in old Bentonville at The Sanctuary. It is a converted church. Everything was impeccable. Food, service and the building itself. Really a first class class evening, one block behind the original 5 and 10 that Sam Walton started in. They also have a web site. Ask for Chef Dane Mane to plan something special.

“Very nice”

I stayed at the Inn on April 25th, and there were some very good things and not so good things. The room was good, although the walls were thin. I heard the fellow next door sneezing. Not good. The floor was sloped too (I realize that the building is quite old, but everything else seemed to have been upgraded well...). The bathroom was well done and modern enough. The bed was comfortable. The ceiling fan was a plus. The wireless was not strong, although i was in a far corner of the building. This was a big minus for me, trying to log in.

The restaurant at Breakfast was not good, as the previous writer indicated. It was picked over by the time we got there at 8. There was little service/help. I had dinner there the night before and the service initially was slow but it picked up and was good after we were waited on.

All in all, very nice but a few things they could work on.
