“Poorer in pocket and sleep.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2004

Stayed here in October 2002 and came way a lot poorer in pocket and very tired.

Room given was faultless-except for the extreme cold. Only one tiny radiator to heat a very large room. Asked for and received a portable heater without which we would have perished.

Fire-alarm went off at 3am- turned out to be a false alarm -great that the system worked ,but no apology received from anybody in the morning and the morning staff we asked about it ,were clueless.

Dinner was included in our rates but was literally inedible. We called it a night when we were offered Jelly and Ice-cream for dessert.

At breakfast we had to send our Tea-Pot back because of filthy state it was presented to us.Turned us off eating there and ate out for the rest of our stay.

Library-singing lounge was o.k. until it started to rain outside.cRain water started to come through room and it was hilarious to see staff (well used to situation) bringing buckets, pots etc out from their standby positions.

Staff that were present were the very best.Courteous and responsive to every request made by us and others. However on requesting Management (of some form) to make these above calamities known, none could be found.

We wrote a letter of complaint offering 'constructive criticism', which was un-answered for 6 weeks, until a formal letter of complaint sent to Fáilte Ireland, produced a reply from hotel within 5 days!

Instead of listening to our views, we got an absolute denial of all faults listed and enclosed was a freebie of another 3 nights.

As our initial letter of complaint stated ,quite clearly, that we were in no way interested in 'freebies' ,these were dispatched back along with a note stating ,quite clearly, our dismay that our problems were dismissed in such a cavalier fashion.

Hotel has great potential but as long as customers views and complaints are ignored, it can only attract a lot of deserved criticism.

This hotel needs serious attention. The outside is dull & drab, but a notice for planning permission on the 1970's front door gives some hope. Thread bear carpet on the steps to the left of reception gets your attention instead of the helpful receptionist. Expected Basil to come to the front desk!
My wife, 2 children and I stayed for a weekend around mid August (room 111). On resting on the bed I noticed a platic bag tied around the smoke detector. Can help wondering how many of the other rooms are like this? Never mind what the fire authority would say. Food was fine, but meal was interrupted by bus loads of Bavarian and Oriental tourist marching to their evening meal on the other side of a large partition. Staffing at breakfast is insufficient. No spoons, no dishes, then orange juice runs out. Staff in kids club were excellent. We only used the club for our meal times and picked up the children directly after. The nursery was always locked but the door for the 5+ was always open with children wandering to and fro in the corridor unsupervised. It meant we kept one eye on our dinner and the other on the corridor. Sports centre is excellent and beach is handy. I expected much better from this hotel group. I regret not complaining at the time.

I have vacationed at the Yeats Country hotel for many years and have always found the accomodation, staff, and food to be of the highest standard. In fact, it is these aspects together with the warm welcome, the friendliness of all who work there and the superb setting that has brought my wife and I back to the Yeats year after year.

We stayed in the Yeats Country Hotel for a night in the summer of 2001. The room was fine, if dark and chaotically furnished. We paid £120 (over €150) for our night's stay. This excluded dinner, which we had at a local restaurant recommended by the hotel receptionist, but included breakfast at their buffet.
Several hours after we had checked out, my partner experienced violent stomach cramps. He spent the following days in bed with bad food poisoning. He had eaten scrambled eggs from the hotel's breakfast buffet. I had not. We had both tasted of all the dishes served in the local restaurant.
When I complained to the hotel about this episode, I received a reply trumpeting the quality control policy of the hotel's egg supplier.
I would not send my dog on holiday to this hotel.
