“really great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2013

The Yew Tree is about 15 mins outside Roscommon Town, which wasn't too far to go for such a great meal. The restaurant is nicely decorated, and cosy. We were served by the owner, who was really friendly and polite. I had the seafood platter, which was cooked perfectly. We got a portion of veg and baby potatoes, which were also really nice, although we didn't manage to make it through them all! Dessert was also delicious, and even though it was close to closing time when we were there we weren't rushed out of the place at all. A great meal, I wish I lived nearby!

“Excellent food, service and atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

Its a little out of the way but well worth the drive - we got a very hearty welcome and found ourselves seated near a wonderfully cosy stove in a very tastefully decorated room. I had the Tandoori Chicken and my girlfriend had the seafood platter - both tasted excellent. The food was beautifully presented and the portions were more than enough. They were so good we stayed for desert. Definitely try this place out.

“wonderful food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

Had dinner there last night having been recommended by the owners of Alverna House. The food was delicious---electic menu very creative. Loved the deep fried tiger prawns. The duck was amazing- cooked to perfection. Better than some of the best restaurants in New York City. The banoffi for dessert was fabulous.

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013

Had heard good reports on the Yew Tree. Visited one Sunday afternoon. It was not very busy in the restaurant and we were seated straight away. Not great choices on the menu and only the basic choices for children. Portions were not very generous, chicken was overcooked and dry and no great effort appeared to have been made in presentation. I didn't feel that the food had been freshly prepared. Was very disappointed with the overall meal

“GREAT EXPERIENCE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

had dinner there last night.
early bird menu was available till 9pm. two courses for €20 or €25 for 3 courses.
quality of food really excellent as the owner is the chef.
choice of 3 starters - potato and leek soup, deep fried tiger prawns in filo pastry,or mild spiced chicken strips.
5 main courses - sirloin steak , tandoori chicken , baked duo of cod and salmon, veg stir fry, and half roast boned duck ( supplement of €3 for duck),
3 desserts - apple and rhubarb crumble, sherry trifle, and banoffee - all home made quality and generous proportions.
wine reasonably priced for a restaurant. we had cotes de rhone des armoires which was excellent with the duck and steak.
the duck was absolutely orgasmic.
manager , Nicola was a gem. she made yon feel welcome and relaxed. Alva, who served us was also excellent.
a great experience . very cosy athmosphere. will definitely be going back soon.
good idea to book table as they were very busy when we were there.
