Absolutely fabulous! Right from the welcome at reception through to departure we felt that we were guests at a country house estate. Coffee and miniature buns in the tearoom was a lovely beginning to our stay. The various drawing rooms in the main house are beautifully decorated and furnished in keeping with a stately home. The bedroom was well proportioned and pristine. The bed was possibly the biggest and cosiest we've ever slept in.

Dinner was a lovely experience with well qualified staff on hand to advise on wines etc. The food and its presentation was delightful and at a very good price.

Breakfast was generous and the hot option was freshly cooked - so much nicer than the usual haphazard buffet that has become the norm.
I also enjoyed a lovely massage, in the cutest little treatment room I've ever seen.

Although we were on a special deal we were treated royally - I look forward to visiting again

This was our first visit to Tankardstown House Hotel at Slane, and it definitely won't be our last - in fact we are heading there this weekend with our friends! The suite was magnificent and the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. We ate in Brabazon and I had the most delicious duck main course ever! Breakfast was wonderful too. Thanks so much to Trish who made it a very memorable stay...

Room Tip: We were upgraded to the Master Suite - amazing!

I haven't stayed in this hotel so can't comment on the accomadation, but from what I can tell it looks stunning. The grounds and everything about this estate is beautiful. Myself and my sister is law recently went for afternoon tea here after it was closed for reovations. They have put up the price since the first time we went for afternoon tea a year ago. They now use a seperate building for the afternoon tea which is very pretty and peaceful. We were a little dissapointed with our experience though. The service was very slow, we waited ages to try to catch someones attention to order another coffee. The cakes themselves were really delicious but little things let it down like not having real clotted cream with the scones and the sandwiches were tiny. They have put the price up by €15, but it was actually nicer before.

Saw a deal on pigsback.com for this beautiful hotel and knew I had to buy. My partner and I had booked this break away months ago and it did not disappoint. Living only 15mins away it still felt like a break away from home!
There are two entrances for the hotel - we came in the first we encountered which turned out to be for the courtyard. Had we realised there was a driveway/avenue we would have continued driving around. It would have been the perfect start to our magical experience. Still - we walked the grounds and saw it but it wasn't the same.
Reception is in the grand estate house itself and the open fire is warming to the heart and the receptionist was very welcoming. She personally showed us to our cottage which added to our experience.
The cottages are beautiful! The courtyard is quaint and private with a relaxed feel as you see and hear the fountain located in its centre. The cottage itself was home away from home but on a more grander scale. I couldn't stop beaming as I let my inner child explore! The decor is sophisticated and beautiful. A fully equipped kitchen, living room, two bathrooms and two bedrooms is ideal for any family (One room was locked). We both loved walking on the super soft cushiony carpet on the stairs.
As residents we were allowed to walk around the main house - nosing around the room transported you to another era allowing you to create your own peace and serenity. my partner and I got immense pleasure strolling around the gardens with the cat. The personal touch of animals on site added another star to my dreamlike state. One could not but help swing from the tree seats and take numerous photographs in various nooks and crannies.
Meal in the Brabazon Restaurant was a tasty fine dining experience. The fine dining was represented in the fine price but plates were left clean and stomach were nicely full. One would have to include it as part of your stately experience. It makes it extra special if someone was celebrating a special occasion.
The beds are so comfortable, soft and cosy that one would not want to get out of it the next morning. It was the end of a relaxation period added to by the option of soaking in a hot bubble bath ( something that hadn't been done in a long time and was long overdue).
Breakfast was nicely presented as like anywhere else but it was nice seeing the local suppliers mentioned.
Bring your own tea and coffee - 2 tea bags of normal tea was all that was supplied along with speciality tea. Nespresso machine is in the cottage but I prefer granulated coffee.
Everything is kept clean and has its own place. We noticed one or two stains on tables but I was very surprised to see make-up on the dual mirror in the ensuite.
The channels on the TV in the bedroom were different to those in the living room.
The lights in the courtyard did not come on at night so thread carefully.
In our offer it stated that we would be receiving cupcakes by Slane Bake. When we checked out I had to ask for this. To my disappointment I was told that they had not been delivered yet. We were then given "pastries" - 4 mini scones.
We did get a little impression that we may have been too "common" for the staying at the house. A little more conversation was shown to those in more "labelled" attire.
Now, don't get me wrong, I may have ended on some nit picky notes but this did not take from our experience. I did not want to leave and I would have loved to stay longer. I am definitely thinking of going back but this time upgrading to one of the rooms in the house! I could not have imagined spending some time off in a more perfect way with my partner.

Room Tip: Look on Pigsback.com for a great offer

I've been wanting to stay here for some time now but somehow never got round to it until this weekend. Came away for an indulgent overnight stay on a B&B+Dinner rate. I had heard great things about Tankardstown and it more than delivered. Beautiful house and grounds, blazing log fires, truly comfortable and beautifully decorated public rooms and wonderful heritage bedroom in the main house. The bed and linens were outstanding, the room cosy with heavy drapes and shutters and an amazing view out over the countryside. We had a fabulous dinner in The Brabazon, with great friendly service by everyone. Fantastic gin menu which we sampled too! Woke to a snowy landscape and wonderful breakfast. Would definitely return. Outstanding.

Room Tip: All rooms are wonderful.

We stayed for one night in one of the cottages which are adjacent to the main building. It was simply wonderful. The bedroom was very spacious and the bed was unbelievably comfortable. We ate in the Cellar and the food was very good with adequate variety for casual dining. Breakfast was in the Brabazon and it was excellent. There was a big bowl of oranges and a juicer so you could do your own juice! (We declined, I would prefer it to be prepared for guests) Overall the ambience is that of luxury and comfort. We visited the bar - Honour Bar - in the main house and were the only ones there. You serve yourself and note the drinks you have. We choose from any one of a number of luxurious sitting/drawing rooms to relax with our drinks but be warned this comes at a price... Overall it was magical.
