Newgrange is the largest of three ancient sites in the area. Older than the pyramids, these sites amazing because of the historical , scientific and spiritual aspects of the tombs. The vistor's center has a nice intro to the lifestyle and artifacts of the people. A bus takes a small group to the site and then half of this group is allowed inside the tomb at one time. No photography is allowed inside the tombs because of the preservation and spiritual nature of the place. There is a lottery to be able to be in the Newgrange tomb during the Winter Solstice to see the interior illuminated. The tombs are set on high hills in the rolling Irish countryside. The exact use of these buildings is still in question.
