“A Gem In Carlingford”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

First you are greeted by both Michael and Glynniss Caine who are so affable and full of advice, you are just glad for that. The room was spacious, super clean and offered a stunning view of water, shore and trees. They offered a downstairs sitting area, where you could bring your own wine for free wifi which several guests took advantage of. Finally there is a breakfast with homemade brown bread and homemade preserves. The winning breakfast dish was salmon with orange and lime sauce that was sublime and unexpected. The Caines are former restaurant owners and they know food matters. The town was a joy and so was coming back to Beaufort House. Kudos! sulema

This was one of our favorite B&B's in Ireland.Glynnis and Michael are the best hosts. The rooms were comfortable and the beds were wonderful. The breakfast was out of this world. We are hoping to get back here again and again.
Lovely setting by the water and the town of Carlingford is very nice.
A well recommended experience!!

I wanted a place by the water and was lucky enough to fin Beaufort House. Michael and Glynnis were wonderful hosts friendly and helpful. I ended up staying two nights instead of one because I enjoyed my stay so much, Time would not allow more. The food was wonderful, fresh and homemade. The medieval town was gorgeous and added to the experience. I would thoroughly recommend Beaufort House. Well done Michael and Glynnis and thanks. Sue

A beautiful bed and breakfast run by a very charming couple, Michael and Glynnis Caine. The spacious and neatly appointed room we stayed in had a breathtaking view of the water framed by fully grown trees, made all the more irresistible by the light. When you arrive Michael and Glynnis greet you with such warmth and humor that you feel as if you’d just arrived “home” in the best sense of the word. Their past experience as restaurateurs is another plus at breakfast. The food is prepared with as much love, care and intensity as you hear in the glorious opera playing in the kitchen! Bravo!

Room Tip: Mountain or water views--your preference.

Excellent room overlooking the lough, wonderful breakfast, large guest lounge room with wifi which felt very homely and had an impressive library. The hosts Michael and Glynnis were very friendly and helpful. We only planned on staying one night but were so impressed with Carlingford and our accommodation that we stayed for 2 nights.

Room Tip: We had a large room upstairs overlooking lough - lovely

Thank you in particular to Glynnis who went above and beyond to ensure we were well catered for. The room and bathroom are large and spacious and the views superb (Ours was a mountain view) but views of the sea are also available - either way stunning. One quibble is the shower which is cramped due to a sloping roof and at 6ft could have been worse for those taller.
Breakfast was superb and the choice varied and tempting - I had a beautiful salmon poached in citrus butter - indulgent but invigorating after a night on the black stuff.
We are regulars in Carlingford but had never been to Beaufort as it can be difficult to get a room.
We will be back and would recommend without hesitation.

Room Tip: Book early if you want a seaview but be consoled that a mountain view is also special.

We recently stayed at Beaufort House on our trip around Ireland. Was an absolutely gorgeous location, it has a lovely view of the bay and the mountains. The village was also within easy walking distance to go out for dinner. We had a gorgeous large room with lovely views. Our hosts were very friendly with great advice and directions on were to go out. It was on the higher price end of the many B & B's we stayed in but for the comfort and hospitality we thought it was absolutely worth it.

Room Tip: Room 3 had a view of the bay and the mountains
