My wife (Evonne) and I only discovered Carlingford just over a year ago. We were fortunate to choose Beaufort House as a place to stay and have been back to Beaufort 3 times since, the most recent occasion being last Saturday, 25th February.
We wouldn’t dream of staying anywhere else in Carlingford. Owners, Michael and Glynnis Caine exude a genuine warmth and friendliness, couldn’t be more helpful and their place is lovely.
It is a quality, spacious B&B, tucked away in a quiet setting by the Lough, yet only a few minutes walk from the medieval village of Carlingford, with its stunning location and great restaurants and pubs.
The bedrooms are very comfortable and guests are welcome to relax and read in the ‘Chart Room’ downstairs (Michael and Glynnis are sailing enthusiasts).
They used to run a high end restaurant where Michael honed his culinary skills. Guests at Beaufort House reap the benefits at breakfast time in a stylish dining room. Michael’s full Irish fry (if that is your choice; there are other options available) is always beautifully cooked and presented and so tasty, and the coffee, toast, fresh bread and home made jams are delicious. We have eaten fine breakfasts in many parts of the world, and Michael’s are right up there with the best.
We have recommended Beaufort to a number of friends, and those who have stayed there have been very pleased.
Well worth a visit.
