“Amazingly peaceful getaway just over an hour from Dublin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2010

I went here for the weekend with my mum and she's picky! I chose Carlingford House based on other reviews and was not disappointed. Superb location (close enough to walk but in quiet location), a very friendly welcome, very comfortable and clean rooms and a good breakfast - superb. My mum will return!

This family run b&b was recently refurbished & re-opened. The house itself is a beautiful old building & internally has been very tastefully redocorated. The room we stayed in at the front of the house, with a baby, was massive & very comfortable.

Coming home to an open fire in the common area was a lovely touch on those wet winter nights

Peter & Irene could not do enough to make our stay as enjoyable as possible

Really nice B&B. We had changed our booking date at the last minute and so had to take a smaller room but we saw some of the other rooms on our departure and they look really spacious and nicely decorated. The host, Peter, was very welcoming and provided us with all the information we needed for our stay in Carlingford. One slight drawback was the breakfast seating situation; all of the guests were sat around a large table together which felt quite awkward!! Several tables of 2 would have been much more comfortable. Other than that it is a lovely B&B and great value for money!

This B&B is an excellent example of B&Bs in Ireland could be. The imposing beautiful house has a grand feel to it and the rooms are beautifully decorated (and wallpapered by Irene's fair hand!) with all the modern toughes you could want -there wasn't a flowery duvet in sight!. The finish of the rooms was of a high standard right down to the door knobs and the taps. The location of the B&B is ideal and everything is easily within walking distance and plenty of secure parking space to leave the car.
The breakfast is a generous one and you can easily fill up for the day on fresh fruit, muesli and Greek yogurt with honey. A traditional fry up is also provided.
Peter and Irene seem a lovely couple and it is their welcome that gives Belvedere House its extra special feel. We will certainly be back and have no hesitations in recommending this B&B.

My husband & I have visited Carlingford a good few other times, but only just discovered Carlingford House on our last visit. In our view it is the best guest house/B&B we have stayed in out of all the others.
The house itself is fab, with roomy accommodation, good facilities in the rooms and a lovely breakfast. It is located very centrally to the village, so no need for taxi's or a long walk home in the evening.
Irene & Peter were great hosts

From the moment we walked through the door to the warmest of welcomes (on a very cold weekend), we knew we found a lovely place to stay.

The house itself is lovely with old fittings complimented superbly with the most modern of amenities, the room was fresh and decorated to the best of tastes. Most importantly, aside from the extremely comfortable bed, the bedroom was spotlessly clean.

The cooked breakfast was also superb, catered especially to our tastes and complimented with all the toast, cereal, yoghurts and preserves you could of wished for, we felt thoroughly spoilt!

We have and will continue to recommend this to anyone.
