“Excellent place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

I have stayed here quite a few times and would highly recommend it. Annette and Aidan provide an excellent service. They greet their guests with a warm and friendly welcome each time and ensure great care is taken for their every need. The B & B is ideally located and has great rates. Breakfast of porridge, fresh juice and a cooked breakfast went down a treat. They are always willing to help guests with directions or any other questions. Always recommend to friends when staying in the area.

I have stayed here a number of times over the year. You are always met by Annette and Aidan's friendliness and helpfulness. The house is well situated just outside the town of Maynooth and very near Carton House. The rooms are spotless and have all the comforts of home. Breakfast is tasty. I would highly recommend this place for value and comfort.

I would have to say the Bn B was very nice and the hosts couldn't have been better. Very friendly hosts. Clean and Tidy rooms. The rooms were cleaned everyday. The owners were helpful . Nice cup of Coffee in the room was there.

Annette, our hostess, made us feel welcome from the moment we rang the doorbell. The warm welcome and pleasant conversations made for a wonderful experience. She and her husband were so helpful and even provided us with a map along with directions towards our next stop. Our room was impeccably clean, well decorated and very comfortable. Guaranteed a good night’s sleep also as the house is situated in a quiet area. One of the best breakfasts I think I’ve ever had in a B&B and it really set us up for the day. Really enjoyed our stay in Kilcar and would not hesitate to return if we were ever in the area again.

We stayed at Kilcar House whilst attending a wedding at Carton House. We enjoyed it very much, breakfast was great and Annette could not do enough to help us or make our stay as enjoyable as possible.

Won't be back. Sorry lads but in a competing market this doesn't cut it. Cheap but not cheerful. Room less than basic and could hear everything from adjoining rooms.

If you like your hosts wierd as well as unpleasant this is the place for you. The guests are treated like children and it will cloud your holiday experience. A fellow guest was warned not to go out in the evening or she would not be allowed to board there! The breakfast was quite nice but the poor golfers were told to get lost when they asked if they could have it early.

This couple are clearly iin the wrong business. I'd rather have paid double and stayed somewhere with a comfortable atmosphere.

Room Tip: Rooms are all basic so I don't think it matters.

I am very disappointed to read your review of your stay with us. I am shocked that you felt that you or other guests were treated like children and that your holiday experience was clouded.

It is most unfortunate that you felt you could not raise your concerns or your concerns for other guests before you departed. I speak with each of my guests before they leave and ask how their stay went. I treat each of my guests with respect, courtesy and fairness. Once a guest is booked into my B&B, they are given a front door and room key to come and go as they please.

I would never disrespect anyone by telling them to 'get lost', I find this most shocking. Most of my guests are regulars and I strive to accommodate their individual needs and requests of each guest, be it an early or late breakfast, or lift to the village or venue/conference/wedding they might be attending.

It is very unfortunate that your time with us was not a pleasant experience.

Kind regards,
Kilcar B&B
