We had e mailed David back and forth a few times from our home island of Kauai. The communications were really very happy and he was teaching me Irish, and I was sending him Hawaiian phrases.
Pulling into the driveway at Portuman house, he greets us with a happy aloha, helps us with our duffel bags, shows us the room, which was wonderfully appointed and bright as well as comfortable. Lucky number 7 was our room with ensuite bathroom and shower. The room was spacious, very clean and homey. Just felt good !
Settled in and unpacked, David put out tea, coffee, and cakes in the downstairs dining area. The laughter, fun and story telling began....and never ended for the whole time that we were there.
David gave us directions into to town and a suggestion as where to have a nice lunch.
walking into town was short and easy, and we dined at Molinas. Wonderful cozy amibiance and excellent food and service. As well as later, stopping at " Strongs" pub, and met the fun local patrons there.
Later, David took us on a tour of Portumna, and showed how to get to the Castle and some of the trails to hike, plus the harbor where in a couple of days he would drive us to begin our skippering a motor vessel up the Shannon River.
Each morning, we were treated to fabulous hospitality and heartfelt good feelings, as well as a full Irish breakfast.
What a most rewarding and pleasant two days at Portuman House, and getting to meet and be friends with David and Uma.
The Portumna Bed and Breakfast, the entire experience, from our first meeting to the aloha hugs on our departure was a special treat and forever a fond, fond memory.
