This place is one of the last truly intact period buildings . It was the place of residence of the founders of the village ( Letterfrack) the Ellis family. Much of the original interior is intact giving this hostel a superb old world feel , probably the most relaxing hostel I have ever stayed in with open fires and old Irish pine floors . The shower room has an open fire , with small coloured lights and classical music in the background . The kitchen was large and functional . Original artwork hangs on most walls with various artifacts and antique furniture, fantastic table in the living room.
My favourite feature was the original sash windows in all of the rooms its very rare to see that in a hostel. The owner Stephen has a fantastic knowledge of the local area and his breakfast is all homemade , porridge ,bread , eggs , very good. If you want a dull funtional hostel with PVC windows fine . If you have taste and want to see a part of lrish history this is a must.
