“What a great find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2011

Bernadette is an absolute charmer and a consummate professional. The rooms are very clean with large beds (I'm 6' 4" and had a great night's sleep). We were greeted with tea, coffee and delicious snacks. Breakfast was superb, wide choices, cooked to order and beautifully presented. Only 10 minutes to the airport and located near Dublin for sightseeing. Good food for dinner near by.

Really a great place to stay. Near Dublin, but not too near. You will not go wrong choosing this beautiful B and B.

Very close to the Dublin airport, but within the town of Swords which has a number of restaurants and facilities. The hostess is super-friendly, served us refreshments and chatted when we arrived. The rooms are 100% modern, with very nice bathrooms and excellent beds. Breakfast choice is also very good. Even has satellite TV!

We stayed at Abbeyglen Cottage for one night in early August. It’s a bungalow-style B&B, by which I mean everything is on one floor and there is no second storey.

This B&B looks small from the outside, but it has huge rooms with large beds and large, contemporary, hotel-style baths with excellent pressure and hot water. This B&B was absolutely spotlessly clean to the point of seeming brand new (though I believe it's several years old) and very modern (any Americans might consider christening their B&B experience here to "ease" into the adjustment from hotels back home). In fact, because our room was so large and clean, and the bathroom fixtures so shiny (including towel warming rack! OMG that must be great in the winter), it seemed to lack some of the charm of the other B&Bs we stayed at. Obviously, this is hardly a criticism, more a matter of personal preference. Our hosts were wonderful; absolutely lovely. They offered good suggestions for dinner as well as essential information for airport check-in (we hadn’t known US customs was on the Dublin end; we would have missed our flight had he not explained things to us). Abbeyglen was an exceptionally easy walk to town and Swords Castle (free to visit) and – the reason we chose this B&B – it’s amazingly close to the Dublin airport. As noted, we received an excellent recommendation from our hosts for a closeby, authentic pub/restaurant (the Old Boro) which ended up having good food in a lovely upscale atmosphere, and at far and away the best prices we found in our whole 9-day trip.

Unfortunately, we were unable to try the highly-rated full breakfast we paid for, as our flight left too early in the morning! Hosts offered to leave fruit out for us, but it would have been even nicer to have had a little something packed up for us to takeaway based on the glowing reviews!

We stayed here the last night before we flew out of Ireland. It was the perfect place to stay for airport travel. Actually it was a wonderful B&B period, it just wasn't near anything too touristy. However, there were plenty of restaurants and a mall within walking distance and the recommendation for dinner that the owner gave us was fantastic. She even told us to be at the airport 3 hours early...and she was right! We needed every minute! The hostess was so accommodating with breakfast. We told her that we wouldn't be able to make breakfast (because our flight was so early) and she brought us a continental breakfast the night before (complete with milk in a thermos)! The rooms were very nice and the bathroom was spacious!

Swords itself isn't very touristy. There was a mall nearby, so that was nice, but other than that...swords didn't have much to offer.

I stayed at Abbeyglen Cottage for 2 weeks, and absolutely loved it. Clean room, comfy bed, good Internet connection, delicious breakfast, and above all, great hospitality. This was my first visit to Ireland, but they made my journey stress-free. They told me how to get to the city centre by bus and how much it costs, and gave me the timetable. I had no trouble traveling, thanks to their help. And the breakfast was wonderful! Juicy fruits and homemade bread come first, then cooked breakfast, which promises the great start of your day. Just 10 minutes drive to & from Dublin airport - perfect location for flying in or flying out. I will definitely stay again.

This was by far the best B&B we stayed in and it's only 4 miles from the airport. We were offered tea and cookies upon arrival and given details about the B&B and the town. The downtown is a short walk(2blocks) from the B&B and we had a wonderful dinner at the Old Boro ( I had the best Shephards pie!!). The night life is NOT for tourist. The clubs remind me of Daytona beach spring break 1994. but we needed to fly out early the next day. I have to say one thing .. I had the worst nightmares at this B&B about these children who were killed and thrown in a pond. It was horrible. Ive only been to Halloween haunted houses and that's all the experience I've had with hauntings BUT this dream felt haunted. I know weird. Besides my haunted dream I LOVED this B&B. You won't be dissappointed.

Bernadette was a gracious hostess and our breakfast was made to order, thoughtfully presented and delicious. The beds were very comfortable, lovely linens, and neutral soothing decor. Everything was new....choice of pillows and great shower, including a towel warmer! Nothing dingy or imperfect.
Our favourite B&B in Ireland and very reasonable priced. Very good value.
Very easy access to the airport & Dublin.
