“Afternoon tea”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

Afternoon tea is excellent at Kettles Country House Hotel. I bought a voucher on the internet for four people to go for afternoon tea. We got a great amount of sandwiches and cakes and an Irish coffee was included for each of us. Great value with the voucher but quite expensive if paying full price.Staff were very pleasant too. Altogether a very enjoyable afternoon.

I stayed a few days ago as I had a long layover at the airport and the price was reasonable though taxi fare to and from the airport was about 18 Euro each way. The hotel is quite far from Dublin so is not a very practical place if you want to see the city. I had a beef casserole which was really an Irish Stew and it was excellent, including a huge slab of in-house baked whole grain bread. It was plentiful and reasonably priced. Had the full Irish breakfast in the morning and could not finish it all. I second the notion that the staff are great, I would just repeat OrahK's comments.

We had a nice time, the staff are friendly, location is nice (thoughnsomewhat remote), and the food is tasty, but not very refined. we were somewhat disappointed at the quality of the internet connection provided; most of the time the connection was so slow as to be virtually non-existent.

Room Tip: A room at the back is more likely to have noise from service deliveries, garbage disposal etc.

The staff in Kettles Hotel are fantastic - friendly, helpful and a bit of fun! The food is also quite good with very generous portions. Unfortunately the room we had lets the hotel down. While the room was quite large, the decor was dated and the room and bathroom smelt musty. There is also a function room at the end of the corridor from the rooms. We were unlucky that there was an 18th birthday party on the night we stayed so noise was a bit of an issue.

I stayed here a couple of weeks ago and was realy impressed until i went to bed. The room was large and very comfortable. Had everything youd want. When i got into the room the bed looked funny, bery high at the front of the mattress but i didnt think to much of it as some times the Cleaners tuck all the duvet under the mattress which makes it sit high at the front. However when I decided to go to bed at 12.30 am it was a differant matter. The top part of the bed (nearest the wall) was about 3 inches lower than the bottom part. So on lying down it was like lying on a step. Needless to say I didnt sleep to well. Now I dont blame the hotel persay as obviously who ever was staying in the room over the weekend were edgiting about and broke the bed in two.. the mind boggles!! However as i said to the receptionest what i couldnt understand was the Housekeeper deeming the bed fit to be sold as actable to be slept in when it was so obviously not. When you stay in a hotel there are two things you are looking for.. Its in the decription BED and BREAKFAST. On this occasion 50 % of the expectation wasnt recieved. Now i wasnt going to start a whole hullabulu at 12.30 am but when I did report the incident in the morning appologies were given and accepted but I did expect ot be contacted by management regarding the situation.. that didnt happen and in that i was very dissapointed. Would i return to this hotel!! Deffinatily yes. Its a very clean and friendly Hotel and the food is very good also. The chances of getting a bed which was effectively broken in two is very slim and the value for money was excellent.

My wife booked a function in this hotel recently. I was at first a little hesitant about the Hotel as it is a little away from the town of Swords however from the minute we arrived here we found it to be a great little hotel with great staff and good food .

We booked a room to stay over and were given a suite which was an enormous room with all the mod cons .Only observation not a complaint was a couple of stains on the sofa in the room and the complete lack of lighting in the walk in the wardrobe even though it is fitted with a full length mirror do dress at .
The reception itself went off without a hitch with plenty of food for our guests and an excellent barmaid to keep us all watered .

Next morning we had breakfast in the bar area which was piping hot and freshly cooked .It was lacking a decent selection of cereals though ( Porridge maybe) and had no fresh fruit salad or prunes which are always a favourite .

Over all i enjoyed our night here and would return .
The bar menu is quite good and would make a good destination if you find yourself out for an afternoon drive .

After attending a wedding fair at Kettles Hotel, I was delighted to hear we won a nights stay in the Bridal Suite. The bridal suite is just lovely, the only fault i could find was some stains on the carpet in the bedroom other than that the room was lovely and clean. The bathroom is just brillant, they have jacuzzi bath and double headed shower.

We had our dinner in the bar which was very tasty, we both had the steak as our mains with garlic bread and chicken wings for starters. The staff were very friendly and helpful. After returning a glass because of lipstick and fingerprint stains the barman came down and personally apologised, which i thought was a nice touch.

We didnt make it down in time for breakfast the next morning which was included. But overall we both throughly enjoyed our stay.
