“Great place to relax”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012 via mobile

Nice condo. Very well equipped. Very spread out to get to different activities (tennis, golf, lake). Great tennis courts and golf courses. Mini golf is very new but we did not play. Had a great concert at the Lions Club by their cultural association. Band came up from Little Rock. Nice drive to Little Rock to visit Clinton Library and LR Central High School and Museum. Nice hike on Sugarloaf Island National Trail at FFB Marina. Would definitely do FFB again and so should you !

Quiet when we went, the weekend after Labor Day; the check-in is not easy to find (and GPS may be less than accurate) but we got there, even in the rain and dark. The restaurants are quite spread out and very few actually on the property; the advertised riding stable was two towns over rather than on the property as we had read the map to mean. For a quiet getaway, excellent. If we'd been here a week I really think it would have been much more enjoyable! There is even a library on the grounds :)

Room Tip: Some of the two-bedroom units have a large jetted tub!

Had a few problems but overall a nice week at the resort. This is a great place to get away and recharge your batteries. You can be as active or laid back as you want. Make sure to attend local briefing on 'what to do/where to go.' The local folks we ran into were all very friendly and went out of their way to help.

We did encounter a few problems: no electricity the day of check-in, power was restored sometime during the night (thankfully a cold front had come through a couple of days before our arrival and evening temperatures were in the low 70's). We used the opportunity to go eat at Janssen's Lakefront Restaurant just 15 minutes down the road in Edgemont. Decent food with hefty portions! On the way back we stopped by the Dollar General (just outside the entrance to the resort) and picked up a couple of candles and a flashlight for our unit. The next morning, two of the four burners on the stove shorted out. Maintenance was quick to respond and repair/replace them (although one of the two still didn't work after they left). The carpeting in our unit could have used a good cleaning! There were plenty of linens and pillows in our 2-bedroom Fairways unit overlooking the Mountain Ranch golf course.

We played golf at both the local courses (let them know you are Wyndam members), Indian Hills and Mountain Ranch. Indian Hills ($35 green fees w/cart) is the shorter of the two but has very tight fairways. Mountain Ranch ($40 green fees w/cart) is long with wide fairways. We even played a challenging round of putt-putt one lazy day.

After soliciting recommendations from the folks at the Fairfield Bay marina, we booked a fishing trip with the Bud Lady Fishing Guide Service http://budladyfishing.com/ Email: BudLady23@gmail.com We could not have had a better day! Terri and Darren were so much fun, not to mention a GREAT guide team! I highly recommend them and will book with them again when we return to the area.

Room Tip: Ask for a 2-bedroom unit.

What a great week we had at the resort, very laid back area. Great place to get away and unwind, not your normal hussel of everyday life. Meet lots of good people and had some good conversations with locals and people from many places in the United States who retired to the quite life. Excellent golf at the two golf courses, Indian Hills more challenging of the two courses. We attended the get to know the area meeting sponsored by Wyndam and guess what, no sales pitch. Enjoyed eating at Jack's, great food, great price, very friendly service even thought it is a gas station. The Mountain golf club house had the best food of the two clubs. Also, open more and friendly service.

Room Tip: Request a room on the Mountain golf course.

If you want peace and quiet, this is the place! Older property, but well kept. We love the Mountain Ridge area as it has it's own pool. No wifi in units yet, but available in other parts of the property. Loved the large jacuzi, lots of bath towels and pool towels. Washer and dryer in our unit. Need car to get around. If venture to to Mountain View or other communities, be ready for curvy roads! Great for motorcycles! No tv in second BR. Pleanty of places to eat on property, grocery store nearby.

Room Tip: There are rooms nearer golf course, just ask. Mountain Ridge-good views of mountains in upper units...

Our room had a nice balcony that was great for watching nature. Ask for a room with a lake view. However the rooms need updating on the inside; stuck in the 80's. The location is beautiful and we had a nice time. The locals are friendly.

stayed in mountain ridge week of July 22.one of the hottest weeks in 2012 but the a/c in our unit was 'freezer' cold . LOVED It..peaceful time-internet connection of cell phone intermittant, also no tv in 2nd bedroom (only in living room and master bedroom)-so without those 2 'must haves' the week was very peaceful...was with family-did not have to take steps to get to our room. spent a lot of time poolside..bowled a few time-the owner of the bowling alley is funny, funny!! had a great time with the other patrons. Cravens food and Dollar general was right down the way -so that was convenient. fished a few times with little luck (too hot to fish for more than a few hours) miniture golf and trip to Walmart in Clinton. Room was clean -well stocked with towels, comfortable bed. the only dislike-windy windy roads..other than that well rested vacation.
