“Beautiful Hosts and Fantastic Room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2010

Visited Killybegs to trace my family roots... I had a great time and stayed at the Seawinds B&B. The cost was exceptional and half what the area hotels charged.

The room was large with a fantastic view of the bay. The family room was spacious and very attractive. Everything in the B&B was clean and fresh. Oh what a breakfast - my teenage (food-picky) Grandson never had such a good morning meal.

Best of all was the friendly attitude of the B&B owners, Patricia and Jerry. They helped with the daily travel plans and routes. Pats' mother Moya was a whealth of historial information on my family and guided me to Ardara to visit distant relatives and sites.

If you plan on visiting Killybegs or the area - this is the place to stay.

This is our second visit to Killybegs and this warm and welcoming B&B. Great food, wonderful "craic" and supremely helpful hosts. Patricia and Gerry are very knowledgeable and sharing.

the room we stayed in was clean and comfortable, lovely view across the pier, from our room, breakfast was yummy, well presented, and clean, the prices are very reasonsable too, Gerry & Patricia were lovely, helpful in anyway possible, in fact we were stuck getting back to Derry airport, because we had bad snow and the lady that was giving us a lift got her car stuck in the hills, and Gerry very kindly drove us to Donegal, so we could get our flight in time, thankyou so much, you will never be forgotten, and hopefully we will book again next year. My mother and I stayed three nights in September at Seawinds, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room overlooked the harbour which is only a short distance from the front door; the room itself was clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were excellent, and it was the first b&b where we had potato waffles which I thought were a delicious addition to the full Irish breakfast. The location is perfect for exploring western Donegal and, of course, the nearby landscapes are spectacular. Patricia and Gerry were warm and friendly, helpful with suggestions and directions. I would readily recommend Seawinds B&B to anyone travelling in Ireland, and would be happy to stay there again myself.

The surroundings of Killybegs are very beautiful. We loved the rough coastline, the green hills. The area is quite unspoiled, there aren't many tourists. Driving through this lovely landscape you can spot archeological sites, like dolmens, just in the middle of nature, no signs at all, there just lying there! Wonderful. You can find beaches, quiet and splendid like paradise. We enjoyed some nice seafood in little restaurants nearby. Gerry and Patricia, our hosts at the B&B, will tell you all about it! They are very very friendly. We had some good laughs with them!

We prebooked b&b at Seawinds and when we arrived Patricia (who was lovely) said she had put us in the appartment as she had a large wedding booking. First glance everything looked fine, however when we closed the windows we could smell that the apparment was damp, very damp.
The main house looked very comfortable and the breakfast was well cooked and substansial.
I think we just drew the short straw!
If you visit Killybeg don't miss a meal at the Castle Murray Hotel, well worth pushing the boat out!!!

I was sorry I was not able to accommodate the guests in the B&B, it was an unusual situation that we were full with a wedding party and I told the agent who made the booking that I would put them into the apartment. I am sorry about the damp odour, I apologise for this and thank you for your comments.

We stayed here in August. The rooms are ok, the decor quite dated. Bed was very soft and we sunk into it. (We prefer firmer mattresses). It's an adequate b&b if you just want somewhere to sleep after busy days out. Felt a bit like a backpacking hostel. Patricia is very welcoming and knows a lot about the area. The breakfast is ok, the frozen potato waffles take away a bit from a homecooked breakfast. For an average b&b we believe it is expensive €70 a double.
Movement by other guests can be heard above and around.

Thank you for your comments and we appreciate that you found us welcoming and well informed on the local area. We are a family run B&B and we get a variety of tourists including some backpackers too.
Thank you for the review.
