We stayed in a twin room of this hotel for one night during our cruise through Ireland and it was the best hotel throughout our journey.
Check in was easy and efficient and we were given a good sized twin room with a double bed and a single bed. The room was spotlessly clean and had all necessary amenities plus a very big balcony that had to be shared with the inhabitants of other rooms. Even though this seemed a bit odd to me in the first place, the balcony turned out to be a big plus because it offered great views on the harbour and a fleet of pretty impressive fishing vessels.
In the evening we had dinner in the hotel's bar which we found quite nice. Even though the bar does not offer the typical charme of an Irish pub it is still a very modern and attractively layouted facility which again offers good views on the harbour. The food served in the bar is far above average, but nothing really special.
Breakfast was partly self-service, a bit complicated, because it wasn't really clear in how far guests were supposed to look after themselves but also satisfying.
Check out was as easy and efficient as check in with no problems whatsoever.
The only downside of the hotel was its Internet connection. For a price of 10 € per night we were given an Interent connection that broke down every five minutes. After complaining about this in the morning the amount was deducted from our bill, so the hotel dealt with this matter professionally and efficiently.
Killybegs itself made for an interesting stay on a rainy day even though it is only a pretty small town. Nevertheless, the harbour is one of Ireland's prime fishing ports with an interesting fleet of vessels. There are also a few probably more traditional pubs and restaurants around the hotel.
