“Would highly recommend this hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2010

Stayed with my husband and three children, from the second we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff.
Our room was a family room two double beds and a camp bed, bathroom was huge, accommodation was spot on and exceptionally clean.
Great activities for kids we went at easter and they did baking for the kids and took the kids to breakfast, and free trip to photo wild life park Bar food was gorgeous..
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a family break, it was so impressive that we have since returned.

We stayed here the weekend 2nd/3rd October and had a lovely time. The staff is so nice and so helpful. We had a very nice room and bathroom. The food is very good - delicious breakfasts cooked to order. We ate dinner in the hotel on the second night and were sorry that we ate out on the first night as the hotel food was much better than what we had in Ballincollig village.
The leisure centre is superb. This was our second time staying in the Oriel House and was even better than than the first time (the food was nicer and of better quality). We look forward to returning. Our thanks to all concerned.

We stayed for one night for our anniversary in this hotel. We got a really cheap deal on line which included dinner and B & B . On arrival the first room was very worn with scuff marks on all the walls, water damage from the shower in the en suite on the bed room wall and the lamp shade was damaged and the phone didnt work. I decided that even if I had only paid €130 for the package I was still entitled to a better room than this so asked the very nice receptionist for another room and was given an identical room but much less worn. I did wonder if the room was given with the cheap price package!

The leisure centre was nice though no robes given which was a pain and the dinner and breakfast was really nice and the staff were lovely.

Around the common areas there were signs of wear and tear such as masking tape on the carpet and patch jobs aroung plugs etc. But overall I felt I couldnt complain for the price I was charged.

Room was fine. Leisure centre was poor, geared toward members not hotel guests. Changing room was untidy and mouldy.
Staff were ill informed about their hotel, when asked about the opening hours for the gym one asked to wait while they googled it, the other told the wrong time.
Breakfast was okay, the buffet was good but the cooked breakfast took too long and was greasy.
Staff at breakfast were helpful but out of their depth.
Two tips for the management, let the guests make their own toast in the morning, guests get hot toast and staff are free to take care of clearing/ serving and please replace all the broken light fittings/ blown bulbs. It looks awful.

We stayed at the Oriel House Hotel for six days in the first week of September for a short sightseeing holiday that also included a family wedding. The wedding reception was also held at the Oriel hotel. We found our room to be very comfortable and spacious. We stayed using the two nights plus breakfasts and one evening meal deal x3. The breakfasts were delicious and the choice on offer was vast. The choice for evening meal was not large but it was more than adequate and was always well presented and cooked to a high standard. The hotel staff could not be more polite or caring and are a valuable asset for the hotel. The wedding reception was of a very high standard and I would recommend the hotel for any future wedding without reservation. My wife and I plan on returning next year we enjoyed the stay so much.

This is probably one of the best hotels I have stayed in Ireland! We booked a luxury spa weekend which included breakfast both mornings and one evening meal with a 100 euro voucher for the spa. The room/bathroom was perfect...very clean, nicely furnished, quiet and the bed was very comfy! There was a wedding on one of the nights but we weren't disturbed by noise at all! I would give the staff, food and atmosphere full marks! The bar was really nice and the coctails were great. The spa was amazing complete with relaxation rooms, fruit, water and lovely staff! I really didn't want to leave and will definitely be back!

My husband and I can not thank the Oriel enough for not only an amazing wedding day but also for for a great stay for us and all our family and friends that travelled over from the UK and stayed for up to a week there with us!! Leading up the the Wedding the staff were so helpful and couldn't do enough to help us out. From the moment we arrived in Cork, some family were already staying at the hotel and were delighted with their rooms, the staff, facilities and the food. We ate at the bar and restaurant several times and although the menu is not extensive the quality of the food is excellent. My husband and I were lucky enough to stay in the bridal suite for the night of the wedding and although we had only paid a standard room rate for the following few days we were put up in the next best suite which was huge!! The managers had lots of time for us and the managers and staff were friendly and interested in how we were even days after the wedding! The hotel itself has all the benefits of a luxury 4 star hotel however it also has a cosy, friendly feel. All our UK relatives and all our Cork relatives were very impressed and commented on what a great hotel and wedding it was. We can not recommend this hotel enough for a holiday in Cork or for a Wedding!!
A big thank you to everyone at the Oriel especially Susan, Janice and Maria for all your help!
