“Raingear required!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2012

The falls are spectacular, both from below and above. Be prepared for a soaking - the mist is strong, but well worth the effort! Very photogenic

“Tourist trap but.... a must”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2012

Even though I think most of the tourists in Iceland was there at the moment when I visited, it is still something you cannot miss when going to Iceland. To see the nature like this is spectacular. Just have to go there when I am in the area.

“Well worth seeing.....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2012

If you have always wondered where the real geysirs are and why they exist, then visit Selfoss where you can read about the history, see a number of different geysirs spouting from the ground and be amused and surprised by their strength and beauty.
One of the best things is that there is plenty to see, plus parking and entry are fee. Icelanders really do want people to learn about their country's history and geography and be as spellbound by the country as they are.

“Pretty cool, for 15 minutes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2012

The tourists poised to try to capture the eruption like Paparazzi are almost as entertaining to watch as the geyser itself...of course, we were just the same!

“Go see!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2012

Definitely worth a visit, even if just for a short one. If you can at all manage it and there's enough hours of daylight, try to go either early in the morning or later in the evening as the coach crowds will be gone by then, and it's quite an experience to walk around the various vents, pools, and sinks as the steams drift past and hear the eerie bubbling and hissing amongst the birdsong.

Strokkur is the big attraction here and we sat and watched it for quite a while, it erupts every 5-7 minutes, sometimes in a single jet, sometimes in several smaller ones. Whichever the case, kids especially seem to love it and get very excited trying to predict when its going to go off, and very wet when allowed to charge about under the resulting spray!

Parking is just over the road at the visitors centre where there is a cafe, toilets and of course a gift shop
