“Modern and bright”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

We stayed here for one night during the last week of September. This is an Icelandair hotel and is very similar in look and atmosphere to the Icelandair Marina hotel in Reykjavik – clean, modern, spacious, bright. After driving 5 hours that day, it was so nice to relax in the bar lounge. We also had dinner at the restaurant – it was one of the best meals of our trip. We had very nice stay here.

Tours stay here overnight, and locals hold business functions here – we asked the reception desk for best times to have dinner and to check-out to avoid waiting. There is plenty of free parking. The location is on a street just off the Ring Road, and there are gas stations nearby – very convenient. The city is not very big, so you can walk everywhere.

Very comfortable and clean rooms and friendly staff. Being a 3 star hotel I expected a simple breakfast, but the selection was really very good. The lobby was nice with a fireplace in the middle and I was happy with the Happy Hour at the bar. I can definitely recommend this hotel, this is good value for the money.

The hotel was nice, the bar staff were also nice. The receptionist spent some time explaining how we would be fined if we smoked in our room (we don't) instead of just having no smoking signs, as in other hotels. I noticed the same lecture was given to each arriving guest.

Breakfast was acceptable provided one only wanted cereal or fruit. There didn't appear to be any cooked breakfast. Eggs and bacon would have been nice.

But what really let this hotel down was it's mean penny-pinching. It was the ONLY place out of all the hotels and cheaper hostels we stayed at where we had to pay extra for WiFi in our room
The shower head in the bathroom hung down loose and couldn't be adjusted. Had to hold it up to get a complete wash, or it just directed water to my feet. Our traveling companion had to change rooms at 4.00AM as the heating in her room ceased working and she was frozen .
All in all a pretty poor experience from what should be a top hotel.
Probably the worst place we stayed in in Iceland, that includes hostels.

Together with some colleagues I spent 3 nights in Hotel Herad and it was really a positive experience. The hotel appear new or newly renovated, everything seem fresh and light inside but despite the modern style the hotel still felt warm and cosy.

The staff was very friendly and helpful.

We had dinner at the hotel 2 out of 3 evenings and the food was very good, especially the lamb dish we had one evening. Yummy. The beef was also good, but "lamb was in the lead". I was less impessed by the breakfast buffet, but by all means everything you need for a decent breakfast could be found. There was even the possibility of making your own waffles for breakfast. However, note that there isn't necessarily free seating at the breakfast tables. Look for the signs with your room number on. We made a total mess of the system the first day by placing us at free tables without reading the number signs.

We stayed here for one night as part of a group on a bus tour. This is an Icelandair Hotel. Nice bright rooms –we had a good view from the top floor. Good location to the centre of the town, with shops, supermarkets and restaurants close by. Free wifi in the lobby, charge for wifi in the rooms. We had a set menu dinner & breakfast included in our package – meals were good.

Feels a bit like an Ikea showroom but is that a bad thing? Very modern, clean comfortable and welcoming hotel with large rooms and a great (if not expensive) restaurant for both evening food and breakast. Very efficient, if not over friendly staff. Definately stay here again

Typical iceland air hotel, very helpful staff, especially the manager, who went to great lengths to ensure all needs were meet. Lovely breakfast as usual, hotel very busy with lots of coach trips but very friendly for our overnight stay.
