“Somewhere in Time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012 via mobile

The Palace is a quaint and charming place for a couple to spend a weekend getaway. This place really doesn't suit children or families per se...unless you are teaching them how things were 100 years ago :) The rooms were very clean, suite 8 is where we stayed, and very large. The antiques were authentic and the suite was very nicely appointed. Calling up breakfast is a lovely touch reminiscent of the turn of the century. All in all we adored the place but there are at least 5-6 mirrors in this room and it was a tad creepy at night lol. Maybe reading about the supposed haunting right before bed added to this feeling! But we will be back and recommend the Palace Hotel to anyone looking for a place to step back in time and feel what life must have been like in an era gone by :) too bad we didn't have time to get massages...I hear the spa is the best thing about this hotel.

Pros: amazing bed and bedding, free snacks and champagne in mini fridge, giant jacuzzi, large suite and superb service from the desk clerk to the person that delivered breakfast, has a romantic ambiance, on-site spa complete with massage, mineral baths, and steam cabinets, in- room breakfast consisting of artfully arranged fruit, pastry and delicious coffee

Cons: depending on when you stay, parking is a steep walk down from the hotel, and the hotel does feel a tad haunted even to someone that doesn't believe in ghosts lol

We will be back and hopefully get to enjoy the spa and a longer stay. Thanks so much for making the last day of our honeymoon so special. We won't ever forget it!

We needed a quiet get-away from real life and that is exactly what we got at the Palace. We stayed on a Sunday and Monday night. We were the only guests staying so we had the hotel completely to ourselves. All the staff was very helpful and informative. The couple's massage was wonderful and relaxing. The walk to downtown is short-about a block. It was just a perfect 2 days.

We are fans of historic properties, and the Palace is just about the perfect blend of modern amenities that still allow the historic character to shine through. We stayed over Thanksgiving, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We almost had the place to ourselves, so we got an excellent price on our room.

Every room is a "suite" with a jacuzzi tub in the separate bathroom. Our king bed was enormous and extremely comfortable. Breakfast is delivered to your room when you call in the morning to request it. The fresh fruit was excellent and presented in a very lovely way.

We had the staff show us several of the other rooms so we could pick our favorite for the next time we come. Highly recommend!

Room Tip: If potential front door noise bothers you, ask for a room in the back of the hotel. They actually co...

What a wonderful weekend! The front desk staff are wonderful. Attentive and gracious without over-doing it. We had a "small" suite(#4), but it was spacious and as large as what any other hotel would call a junior suite. Cheese, crackers and champagne were waiting in the stocked minibar when we arrived. Lovely antiques and a fabulous jacuzzi tub were icing on the cake. The Palace seems out of the way, but really one is within walking distance to all of Spring Street. It's tucked away location only adds to the charm. After a great night sleep in a memory foam king size bed, breakfast was delivered to the room within moments of our call to order.
But every silver lining has a cloud. We were kept company by a few personal space respecting ladybugs. Must be the time of year. And the guests above our room sounded as if they were shod in lead soled shoes. But those are the only caveats.
All in all a fantastic stay. We are already making plans for a spring time return.

Just an overnight stop while passing through the area. No time for spa or really for touring the city. I was looking for an old hotel with character and that is exactly what we received. After reading comments on other hotels in the area, I took a chance on the Palace Hotel to surprise my wife.

Upon arriving, we found a beautiful, old hotel- decorated well, maintained and clean. We were met by the manager, Farar. He was courteous and helpful. We found out that we were the only guests in the entire hotel so we had our choice of rooms. Suite 7 did not disappoint us. It was big, clean and just what I was looking for.

It was a little strange when we first found out that we were the only guests and that we would be staying at the hotel alone overnight- just a new experience for us. However, Farar made sure that all of our needs were met and contact information was readily available.

After dinner at Ermilio's, we returned to the hotel and let ourselves in with the key provided. It was like coming home to our own Victorian mansion. It was great.

We rested well and breakfast was provided. Farar went beyond the call of duty. It was also fun kidding Farar into thinking I had seen the ghost of Rose Marie during the night- all in fun.

We plan on returning. This hotel will certainly be at the top of the list. Can't wait.

My husband and I came here for the couples works spa package for our first anniversary, it was delightful! Staff was great and the massage therapists were wonderful. We each got a mineral bath, eculyptus steam treatment, clay mask, and an hour massage. Next time we are in town I'll be booking this package again.

We recently celebrated our anniversary and after much planning decided to book with the Palace. Upon arrival check-in was speedy and we felt much at home almost like we have been there before! The service was amazing and the staff is very professional. The look and feel of the Palace was very authentic and romantic, we expecially enjoyed our breakfast "Too Pretty to Eat" delivered to our room! The Spa services left us feeling refreshed and rejuvenated! Our overall stay with the Palace would be rated at 5STARS! We will recommend The Palace to anyone!

Room Tip: The room we stayed in was larger than we expected and very clean.
