My husband and I decided to have a quick honeymoon in Eureka Springs after our September 2005 wedding. After searching online, Hidden Springs looked like a great place to spend the weekend. We booked Dove Cottage in June and everything seemed to be going as planned. In August, we recieved a call from Jim, one of the managers, who told us that we would have to stay an extra night because we would be there over Labor Day weekend. While it clashed with our wedding plans, we did not want to lose the room so we decided to go ahead and stay the extra night. On the day of my wedding, I recieved a call from Stephanie telling me that she was charging the entire stay to my credit card. I asked her not to as we had already discussed that I would pay her with cash on the night we arrived. (My credit card was "pooped" after a slew of wedding expenditures and I would go over my limit if she charged it.) After talking to me like a 6 year old for 20 minutes about interest rates and explaining to me how credit cards work, and making my cry on my wedding day, she charged my card anyway. After arriving at Hidden Springs, we were treated as though we were a burden. There was barely any contact made with us while we were there, and what was made was somewhat rude. Jim seemed to be very pleasant and happy to have our business. His wife, Stephanie, on the other hand needs a reminder of who the customer is. We did not even want to stick around the cottage during the day in fear of what might be said. We were given dirty scowls as we set on the deck in our pajamas mid-day and sipping on champagne. If I wanted my mother on my honeymoon, I would have brought her with me. Honeymooners beware, spend you money doing other things instead of the expensive room. It was nice, clean, cozy; but Stephanie ruined the whole experience. That was the only regret I had about the whole wedding/honeymoon weekend.
Also, my husband and I had planned to wed at the actual B&B with only our parents present, but Stephanie informed us that we couldn't have them there. She didn't have room for 4 extra people to witness the happiest day of our life. We could, of course, choose two of them to join us. No thank you. Looking back, I am glad we made other plans.
It has been a year and a half since our experience and it still makes me angry to know I wasted close to $400.
