“Incredible!!!!!”

Hidden Springs Bed and Breakfast

May 27, 2008

How anyone could visit this quaint B&B in the Ozark Mtns and not love it is beyond me.
From the moment we walked in the door, we were treated like royality. The innkeepers were so accommodating and gracious. Although the entire property was full, we were treated like we were the only guests there.
Everything from breakfast to desserts, the most beautiful grounds and oh-so-comfortable beds was just perfect.
Private parking and walking distance to the shopping district was very convenient. (Although we hardly left our suite!) We even made friends with another couple there and are planning to meet in Eureka Springs again.
We booked another long weekend on the spot. We can't wait to go back!
This is the place for total privacy or gathering with others for conversation. We're so glad we found it.

We were looking forward to our third anniversary with our plans set to stay at the Hidden Springs B&B Blue Willow Room. However, just days before our trip, we received a phone call from Stephanie stating that our room had previously been booked to someone for a honeymoon package for a 3-day stay and she had forgot to write it down so we would have to move to their last available room which did not offer the same features as the one we had booked. It seemed that since we were only staying 2 nights and they were not going to make as much money from us they had given our room away. Since we decided we did not want the other room, we requested a refund of our 1 nights deposit ($158) which had already been deducted from my checking account weeks before. When I told them I just wanted my money back Jim & Stephanie both got very angry and began yelling at me. I was told that they would not have the money in the account to refund to me until their next stay. And when they did have it they would mail me a check! (coincidentally - they do not accept checks when you book a room, but I'm supposed to take theirs when they just told me they don't have any money in their account?!!) I tried to explain that I needed it credited back to my account rather than mailed to me so I would have the money to book another room for my trip, but they continued to yell at me that they would mail it back when they had it. I would say this establishment is in financial trouble and desperate to make money even if it ruins someone else's trip. They might seem nice enough when you first book, but if you run into any problems Jim & Stephanie are very unreasonable and terrible customer service people.

My husband and I decided to have a quick honeymoon in Eureka Springs after our September 2005 wedding. After searching online, Hidden Springs looked like a great place to spend the weekend. We booked Dove Cottage in June and everything seemed to be going as planned. In August, we recieved a call from Jim, one of the managers, who told us that we would have to stay an extra night because we would be there over Labor Day weekend. While it clashed with our wedding plans, we did not want to lose the room so we decided to go ahead and stay the extra night. On the day of my wedding, I recieved a call from Stephanie telling me that she was charging the entire stay to my credit card. I asked her not to as we had already discussed that I would pay her with cash on the night we arrived. (My credit card was "pooped" after a slew of wedding expenditures and I would go over my limit if she charged it.) After talking to me like a 6 year old for 20 minutes about interest rates and explaining to me how credit cards work, and making my cry on my wedding day, she charged my card anyway. After arriving at Hidden Springs, we were treated as though we were a burden. There was barely any contact made with us while we were there, and what was made was somewhat rude. Jim seemed to be very pleasant and happy to have our business. His wife, Stephanie, on the other hand needs a reminder of who the customer is. We did not even want to stick around the cottage during the day in fear of what might be said. We were given dirty scowls as we set on the deck in our pajamas mid-day and sipping on champagne. If I wanted my mother on my honeymoon, I would have brought her with me. Honeymooners beware, spend you money doing other things instead of the expensive room. It was nice, clean, cozy; but Stephanie ruined the whole experience. That was the only regret I had about the whole wedding/honeymoon weekend.

Also, my husband and I had planned to wed at the actual B&B with only our parents present, but Stephanie informed us that we couldn't have them there. She didn't have room for 4 extra people to witness the happiest day of our life. We could, of course, choose two of them to join us. No thank you. Looking back, I am glad we made other plans.

It has been a year and a half since our experience and it still makes me angry to know I wasted close to $400.

We stayed at the Hidden Springs B&B on an elopement package and can’t say enough good things about our experience.

The owners, Jim & Stephanie, were very warm, welcoming people intent on making our experience a happy & memorable one. They put us up in their new Dove Cottage which came complete with lots of (and we mean LOTS) of movies, a Jacuzzi, fireplace and 4 poster bed.

The Rev. Richard Grinnell married us in a brief but warm and meaningful ceremony in their parlor while Jim took pictures with our camera. (We thought his pictures turned out great!)

They even had a little wedding cake & full-size bottle of champagne for us in the parlor. And there were little bottles of champagne in the room for later as well as desserts for each evening and juice for the mornings.

Our package included a free dinner at DeVito’s Italian restaurant in downtown Eureka Springs. The meal at DeVito’s was very good and was the perfect ending to our perfect day. Speaking of food, Jim’s gourmet breakfasts each morning get the day started off right!

Eureka Springs is a wonderfully charming place to get married and for a small intimate ceremony the Hidden Springs B&B is the perfect venue for charm, value and setting.

We have been staying at Hidden Springs every Valentines Day for the past 3 years, and this year was just as awesome as the last.
The caretakers, Jim & Stephanie, have become special friends and we feel blessed by their warmth and caring during our stay.
Hidden Springs is a quaint and peaceful cottage that is beautifully decorated and provides a peaceful, romantic setting for anyone looking to get away for the weekend. We HIGHLY recommend staying at Hidden Springs. Perhaps your stay will become a tradition like ours has!
