I will begin by stating that my wife and I are extremely picky. The little things really matter a lot to us when we go on vacation. We use our vacations to read and enjoy each others company more so than to do tourist activities - this means we enjoy quiet and comfortable surroundings.
Good things about Eureka Sunset:
Comfortable bed.
Tasty breakfasts.
Clean.
Worst thing about Eureka Sunset:
The toilet in the owner's unit above us had a leak and would trigger itself to refill about every 3 hours. When the toilet was filled and the valve shut, the water hammer from the line was quite startling. Made reading my book late at night quite frightening.
Inattention to details at Eureka Sunset:
Hostess didn't seem to like her job, never smiled.
Lack of comfortable chair to sit back, read and relax in.
Lack of screen over the door/windows which required the door stay shut so we weren't inundated with bugs.
Lack of noise insulation between room and owner's residence.
Poor parking, had to drive down an EXTREMELY steep gravel road to the basement of the house.
During our stay we heard, dogs barking, babies crying, and the owner taking shower.
Water all over the floor after every shower no matter what we did.
No closet to hang clothes, the owner used the closet intended for our space as storage, we hung our clothes on a coat rack.
No thermostat - not sure who/what controlled our AC.
PS: Our review was for the room in the basement of the owner's residence. The other two rooms are in a seperate structure.
