“Quaint, Clean and Romantic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2012

My wife and I took a long weekend getaway to Eureka Springs and chose the Evening Shade Inn based on the recommendation of a friend. Not knowing much about the city, we couldn't have picked a much better place to stay. Clark and Donna, the proprietors, put a lot of care into their facilities, which are clean and easy to access right off of E. Van Buren (Hwy. 62). The trolley stops right at the end of the driveway so if you want to take advantage of it (there is very little parking and it all costs money in downtown Eureka Springs), you can do so for $5 per person all day.

We opted for the Evening Shade cottage, which backs up to the beautiful woods of the Ozark Mountains and is a spacious, private cottage with a jacuzzi tub and a front and back deck for relaxing in the evening. Breakfast is delivered fresh every morning (at the time of your choosing between 8:30 and 10) and in the evening, you return to a new dessert waiting for you after a day of sight-seeing.

While the location is a bit out of the historic downtown area, I'm not sure I'd want to stay anywhere else. The room was so quiet and secluded that it felt as if we had rented a small house for the weekend. That privacy was something I'm not sure we could have gotten closer to downtown.

If my wife and I return to Eureka Springs, we'll likely stay at the Evening Shade Inn again. Great spot, clean rooms and superb amenities!

Room Tip: Spend the extra money and reserve one of the cottages!

Our first time visit to Eureka Springs was very much enhances by staying at Evening Shade B&B. It was the perfect spot to celebrate our 45th anniversary! Quiet, private quarters were nestled in among beautifully landscaped gardens and woods, providing a romantic setting. We stayed in a cottage called "Antiques and Lace", so that set the theme, and it was very charming. Each morning, at a specified time (our choosing) someone appeared with a large covered basket, which was our breakfast! Each morning held different assortments of piping hot baked egg dishes, delicious fresh fruit and a hot muffin or cinnamon roll...all home made and freshly baked! Wonderful, and when our room was tided up each day a succulent dessert was left in th refrigerator for our enjoyment later in the evening. Very nice touch. Coffee/tea set ups were in the rooms, with all comdiments needed as well as cold driks in the refrigerator. A large TV and jacuzzi helped to add to our enjoyment, as well as a gas fireplace. Everything was very clean and worked well. A stroll through the property led to a quiet, wooded gazebo with a foutain and fishpond on one side, and we enjoyed our "happy hour" there several afternoons. We would certainly stay there again if we were to return to Eureka Springs. Our room was situated near a busy road, but the AC motor covered up most all the outside noises. However, we might want to request a cottage farther from the main road next time. Give them a try! You won't be disappointed!!!

Room Tip: As I mentioned, rooms farther from the road would be a plus.

Had a wonderful time and was very happy with our stay at Evening Shade. Highly recommend this location...will stay here again if we go back to Eureka Springs. Service was great, breakfasts and deserts were delicious, room was very clean, and grounds were beautiful. Could not have asked for a better stay. This was our first time to Eureka Springs and we were very pleased with the Evening Shade Inn.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Salena Room. It was very nice and would stay there again.

We have stayed at the Evening Shade numerous times over the past 15 years and it has always been awesome. If you want the perfect little romantic get away, this is where you want to go.

Room Tip: The Eureka Cottage is the best!

This was our first stay at Evening Shade Inn and will not be our last. The room was immaculent and breakfast delivered hot and fresh every morning. Really loved the the little extra touches such as bath salts, Q-tips, robes, cottonballs, and chocolates. Definitely recommend staying here.

Room Tip: Rooms in the four plex and the cottages are set out in the woods. The suites in Linen and Lace are...
