“okay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

I have never ridden on a train like this & maybe expected too much. I have ridden on trains in European cities, but not a nostalgic train like this. It was only 4 miles & I should have figured that wouldn't be long or loop around; after 2 miles, they had the locomotive go & hook on to the back of the train & take us back the way we came. It was scenic for the small trip, but was really hoping to get a longer trip for $14 ticket. Wish I had done the dinner train for $10 more, but it looks like it was a 4 mile trip, too. I know it costs a lot to employ all the people--an engineer, a brakeman, conductor, ticket/gift sales--it takes a lot of $ to run a railroad, but all the people were very nice.

“Lots of History!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

My husband and I had not planned to take this tour, but were driving around one morning, the weather was nice and cool and we just happened to stop to take a look around, .

A lot of history lying around, and the conductor was very friendly, talking about many of the large pieces of machinery. We decided to take the train tour. This is not really a scenic route, (except that the Ozarks are just lovely) but more of a history and story telling tour. Thoroughly enjoyed all the stories, watching the engine turn around, and all the other surprises. This is not a theme park ride, so if that is what you want, you will be disappointed. For what it was, we loved it and it was one of the highlights of our trip! The conductor, Travis, kept us enthralled!

“The kids loved it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

We thought this would be something our two boys 5 and 2 would enjoy and they did. The scenery wasn't anything that great but the about one hour trip (with the stop in the middle) was ideal. The old car that we rode in was interesting to see and our guide/conductor was very nice and full of great knowledge. Our boys seemed to also enjoy the stop in the middle where we able to see the pennies and nails flattened. If we ever were to visit Eureka Springs again with the kids I am not sure we would do this again but we had a good time when we did.

“Romantic dinner & excellent service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

If you have never eaten a meal in a dining car, you must try this adventure! We were celebrating 25 years together and scheduled this because we had never had this type of experience. It was wonderful! The service and food were both top-notch! We were a little surprised that the train ride was more of a 2 mile turn-around (4 miles total); BUT that did not take away from our experience! We rode and ate a delicious meal, enjoyed a lovely ride next to a stream, and ate dinner parked on a bridge over another pretty little stream! All in all it was a highlight of our trip to Eureka Springs!

“Short ride but entertaining”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

If you are wanting a hour of entertainment this is for you. The train ride is ok, but the conductor was so friendly and informative it really made the trip wonderful.
