This old rock called "Pivot Rock" has been visited by huge numbers of people in Arkansas. I have pictures of family here from the 30's through the 90's. Pivot Rock and "Natural Bridge" were I am sure even visited by the early inhabitants of the land. Native American have visited it and pioneers , explorers etc. Many people of different nations and class have come here through the years to see this balanced rock and to climb the natural bridge. I have picts of my ancestors on that too. Well now it is for sale and the property around it. It is up for One Million and seven hundred thousand dollars through some realty business in Eureka. This is not so bad but depending on what they do with it. I suppose a fenced community , gated where no one can visit any more. It is all bull dozed around it and no shrubs etc. A lonly old gentleman he is. We have returned from other states on vacation and visited "Pivot Rock". We have retired out here and visited it . We have taken each generation to see it. It was almost mandatory that we did this. Well I do hope the new owners will respect it. Who knows. A poor old Ozark monument to the Natives , the pioneers, the hill people may soon be done away with. I am a little saddened to loose a peice of our Ozark heritage. It hurts to see the old things go. I saw it this Mother's day. My sons took me. My younger said to me, "they can't take away your memories Mom." They will remember it to but are more used to change than we older ones. Yes it is in the photo album of my mind with the other memories of the area. Thanks for listening. It is worth the visit. The area feels so ancient so very ancient. You can almost feel all the others. Some claim they can "see" them, the old ones walking around. As for the snails, we found many ancient things and just left them where they were. If you want to walk in the ancient foot prints of the past this is a part of the Eureka Springs visit. Go Well Rea Scott

Cheap and worth the money. Not wheelchair or disabled friendly. We went further back on the trail than most people and went up into the bluffs exploring. We found paleolithic, underwater snail shells! We found 5 that were completely intact but paper thin and fragile. We took them back up to the front desk and she was speechless that we had found those up there! She said no one that she was aware of had ever found those. She told us that those rock formations, and all of the Ozarks, were formed when the earth was formed and were one of the oldest rock formations on earth! Those have probably been there the entire time since water hasn't flown through there in thousands of years! I will be doing research on them online. Go see it!
