“Interesting Place for Breakfast”

Mud Street Cafe

Great breakfast food, interesting staff, to say the least. A lot of people related to the staff hanging out.. was a weird scene. We felt like we were in an 90s grunge movie. That being said, the food was very good. They have great teas, great hot chocolate, and had very good food. I would rank this place right there with Myrtie Mae's. I think the crowd in this place is local and we got along fine. It was just weird seeing the staff's kids running, but most would tell me "Get over it..." I hate to bring this up, but the bathrooms were filthy.. we are not sure we would return, as Myrtie Mae's is more our style, at least for breakfast.

“I wouldn't eat here again for free.”

My husband and i were married in ES and spent several days there on our honeymoon. The Mudstreet Cafe comes highly recommended so we made a point to eat there. We almost left because it took so long to even see a waitress. She took our drink orders and disappeared again. When I got my drink it was the worst mixed soda I have ever tasted. They should really check their syrup mix. It was gross. I had to ask for water instead . I ordered a grilled cheese. I am a simple kid at heart and I love my grilled cheese. When it came it was heaped with all kinds of crap. Bean sprouts and some nasty rubbery cheese. The bread was hard as a rock and greasy. I wouldn't recommend this place based on my experience. Just not our cup of tea.
The service was horrible and the food wasn't much better.

We had lunch here on Sat June 30th. Food was above average.
Waitress was friendly enough, but once our food was delivered we didn't see her until it was time to get the check. Service was definitely just so-so. However, it was busy and she did seem to have tables in the back. I had the soup/sandwhich lunch special. The potato soup was quite good. The ham sandwhich was also good. I asked for a side of the horseradish/mustard sauce for my sandwhich and it didn't seem to cause a problem.
For dessert we had the plain cheesecake with cherry compote. The cherries were delish! The homemade cheesecake was average.
Will try again, hopefully for breakfast.

Went for breakfast. Pancakes, omelet, and veggie hashbrowns all done well with creative flair. Excellent selection of well brewed self serve coffee. Eureka Springs charm with a laid back attitude.

My husband and I were recently in Eureka Springs for a week to celebrate my 50th birthday. This was the week of April 16-20th, 2007. We had been to Mud Street Cafe 5 or 6 times before this week on previous weekend trips to the area. Mud Street has excellent food, but because of the attitude of one waitress in particular (who we always seem to get!) we have decided to NEVER go back, no matter how good the food is! Her snotty, non-accomodating, rude attitude has been consistant over the years! WE KEPT COMING BACK THINKING SHE WOULD SURELY HAVE BEEN FIRED BY NOW! We always order wine with our breakfast when we go there (The Casarsa Merlot in very small, individual bottles they have), and she always acts like that is unheard of for breakfast....rolling her eyes and walking away shaking her head! This time, we ordered their delicious blueberry pancakes and wanted to take 2 orders to go for the next day because they are soooo good! We were staying at Lake Lucerne Cottages and wanted to have them the next morning before heading off to explore the lake. Once again, this server without a servants heart balked! She rolled her eyes as we told her that we would like a baggie filled with ice placed inside the bag she put the to go pancakes and our left over veggie hashbrowns (delicious!) in, so they would stay cool for about an hour while we shopped. She said something to the effect that they never do that...blah, blah, blah, and walked off shaking her head, making us feel as if we were such a pain! Horrible attitude! We have always enjoyed the gormet food but will NOT be back.
