We stayed at this hotel in June 2007.
I had messed up our reservations and we arrived a day late. They were extremely accomodating and fixed us up with a very nice room on the 3rd floor (we had reserved the 2nd). Since they didn't know we were coming the room was quite hot & stuffy but that was our own fault.
There wasn't any stairs but I still absolutely loved the room we were in. It was more like a gigantic suite. I did notice some of the other rooms were not as large as ours (I peeked in since there doors were open). Our room was very spacious & had a full kitchen. The bathroom was split into 2 different rooms with 1 room having a huge jetted tub..LOVED IT!!! While the other room had your toliet and vanity. We didn't have a chance to sample the restaurant or the spa but we loved the decor of the suite. It had some very charming antiques and made us feel like we were royalty. The location of the hotel is right on main street and very easy to find. Many of the other hotels are not. Also, roads in this town are a winding, curvy mess. I didnt feel like there was much to do here but sightsee with my 2 little children. Also, there wasn't a pool here, that would of been handy.
We did visit the Crescent hotel and looked into a room and they were very nice and even cheaper. They also had a pool and a nice rooftop bar.
If returning, I would probably stay at the Cresenct hotel instead just because it has a pool, fantastic restaurant (we ate there) and an elevator. Oh....did I mention that it is haunted??? They give tours there too!! But....if these amentities are not important to you & you would rather have more room then you should definitely stay at the Grand Central Hotel. It was more like an apartment instead of a room.
