“Wonderful stay at Retreat at Sky Ridge!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2014

We loved the place and are already making plans to go back sometime in the fall. We were there for two nights with our dog. They left a bag of doggy biscuits on the counter just for her. The cabins are SO much better than staying at a hotel! We had a wide spanse of over 1 acre of land where our cabin sat and it was so nice to sit out on the large covered porch in the porch swing and watch the sunset and listen to the birds sing. The cabin was large with a jacuzzi, full kitchen, living room with fireplace, and bedroom area. Kitchen utensils and cookware could stand to be updated, but it worked and there was plenty of dishes and nice silverware. These cabins are decorated to look like home. Ours was stocked with some of the most incredible bird and butterfly books you could imagine. A candle was burning when we got there and the fan was on with the windows open making it very comfortable immediately. The office offers free DVDs and movies, but most are older, so you may want to brings some as the TV only gets 2 channels. Truly a lovely place in a beautiful setting.

Room Tip: When we go back we are hoping to get #9 or #10 at the top of the mountain that overlooks Beaver Dam...

My husband and I arrived after hours and they had turned on the lights and heater for us, and even had a lovely smelling candle burning when we got to our cabin. We walked into a warm, cozy, clean and spacious cabin. There was a "welcome" bag for our dog that had plenty of treats. Location is right off Hwy 62, secluded and about 15 miles from downtown. Customer service was outstanding. They made sure that we were completely satisfied with our stay. We borrowed a couple of movies from their extensive movie library and we watched a movie next to our fireplace on our second night. They provided wood for the fireplace and even instructions on how to start it. We enjoyed spending time out on our porch on the rocking chairs and porch swing. We also brought charcoal and enjoyed a couple of steaks we cooked on our grill while enjoying the view of Beaver Lake. The kitchen had all we needed to cook every day we were there. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and loved that they are extremely pet friendly! They absolutely love dogs! We will definitely be back!!

Room Tip: We stayed in Cabin 10 which is the last cabin at the top of the mountain. It's secluded, quiet...

Why not a 5 rating? There is always room for improvement on any place or thing you do. We stayed this past Saturday and I couldn't be happier. We drove in on Hwy 62 from Rogers. It was easy access and close to Hwy 62, but was tucked away and very secluded. After looking at some other cabins that we had thought about renting, we realized we had made the right decision. Some of the others were right on the highway. It was still snow and ice covered, so we had a little trouble getting to our cabin, but they were very nice and offered to drive us, if we needed.

At check in, they were very friendly and accommodating. They had left us firewood on the front porch and lit a candle on the inside of the cabin.

Each cabin is different, so make sure to read the descriptions. I wanted to make sure ours had a jacuzzi tub. It did and it was very big, but there was no shower. They had attached a shower hose to the jacuzzi tub, so you could hold it and stand in the jacuzzi to bathe.

Our cabin was clean and had all of the necessities.

When it was time to leave, it was too slick to go down the hill, even i a 4 wheel drive. They were great and gave us an alternate route to leave. We had to go a little off road, but we made it safely.

I can not wait to go again and stay here in the spring, so that I can walk around the land.

We left feeling very relaxed.

Loved the feel of the property. We stayed in one of the cabins on the top of the mountain with beautiful views. It had a great 2 person Jacuzzi with strong jets for your back. And there is this great big window there at the Jacuzzi that looks off over the valley. The dog treats were very pleasing for Sadie, our Chiweenie daughter. The bed was firm like we prefer. We even made use of their huge DVD library and watched a movie beside the fireplace. We will be back!

Room Tip: The Indian Cabin has awesome views!

My husband and I took our third trip in 4 years to The Retreat at Sky Ridge. We had decided to make it a Thanksgiving getaway. We love to go there because of the peace and quiet and the fact that they are "dog friendly" or at least they WERE. When we arrived, our cabin was waiting for us with treats for our two dogs. For the 4 days we were there, everything went well and we enjoyed our stay with a couple of exceptions. When we went to take showers, we found we had to run the water for several minutes before it got hot and then the water pressure was poor - especially in the kitchen. The towels were very rough and scratchy and smelled like cigarettes. When you go into the main cabin where the office is, the cigarette smell is very strong, so apparently the towels picked up the smell. Also, they provide dishes, pots and pans, etc., but I would advise taking your own pans. The ones they provide we're so cheap, even bacon stuck to them. All in all everything was fine until we had been home about a week and I was looking at our bank account online and found an additional $50 charge. I emailed the owners asking what that was for and was informed by return email that when we left the cabin there were multiple piles of dog feces left around the cabin. I was FLOORED! For one thing, our dogs do NOT soil inside and even if there had been an "accident" we would have cleaned it up. Heck, we even pick up after them outside. I emailed back and said there must have been a mistake. My husband and I separately walked the cabin before we left and there was no such thing! I reminded them that we had been there previously and never had any issues. The owner, Cindy, informed me that she was surprised too, but the housekeeping report said it was there, so they charged us. I was very upset and Cindy informed me that they were snowed in and she and the housekeeper would call me once they could get back into the office and look at the records. A wee k passed and still no call. I sent another email and was told they were still snowed in and she wanted the housekeeper with her when they called. It is now 4 days after Christmas and a month since we left and no one has bothered to call us. I firmly believe they realized that someone was lying and it wasn't us. We will NEVER go back. This was an outright fabrication on their part and they didn't even have the courage to contact us personally. We will go back to Eureka Springs, but we will find another place to stay. The entire town is dog friendly and there are many other options.

Room Tip: If you go there with dogs, demand they walk the cabin with you upon check out.

My husband and I have stayed at the retreat twice now and it has been wonderful both times. The cabins are spacious and have everything you need if you never want to leave the cabin. We love the owners and Yonkie and always felt welcome. The only thing I can complain about are the beds. We stayed in 2 separate cabins and the beds were horrible. Both my husband and I didn't sleep well and woke up very sore. With the exception of the beds we absolutely love this place and would still recommend it!

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a room with a shower. The first time we stayed there was no shower just a tub...
