“Unfortunatly not so happy”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2012

We stayed there (or tried to stay there) at the end of July with our 2 children and had a family room on the ground floor reserved for us. Unfortunately it had rained a lot in the previous weeks and the our room was completely damp. The water had made the walls so wet that it was impossible for our children and us to stay there overnight. The nice manager tried to find an alternative,but couldn't get us any equivalent room,so we left the same evening.I also believe that the prices were too high for this type of chateau,no TV in the room,the pool also wasn't ready and the other rooms that were offered to us were not worth the money.

We spent 4 nights here with our 8 year old daughter in June. The chateau is beautifully renovated and very comfortable, with a great host. The pastries and jam for breakfast were delicious! Central location to the main attractions in the Loire Valley.

Opened only two months ago so not yet high on the Tripadvisor review radar. Excellent value at 150 euro per couple (inc breakfast).
Five stars for:
* location and grounds
* parking
* ambience, size of rooms, public areas, lift, bathrooms, outlook from rooms
* comfortable beds
* professionalism of Francois, our host, who booked restaurants for us and spoke excellent English
Four stars for:
* style a peculiar mix the genuinely old and some bizarrely new
* sometimes spotty wifi
* no cereal or fruit at breakfast

Spent three nights and visited six of the area's chateaux, finding Chateau de Perreux centrally located for our excursions. The manager, Francois, was a gracious host and tourist information resource. Our family of four had a two-room suite with beautiful views of the grounds and terrace. There are no real dining options within walking distance, but there is a supermarket nearby and Francois will gladly make recommendations (and reservations) at area restaurants. The treat served with breakfast every morning was a local artisanal apple juice----delightful. Enjoyed our stay immensely.

Could not believe we stumbled across this place. From the outside it appears "ordinary" - inside though you discover that the Chateau is built into the hillside - and has hidden tunnels/ a newly installed lift and newly removated rooms that were just amazing. There is a green house across the top, hidden tunnels to take you under the road to the Swimming pool. The Manager Francois Hastings was charming and so welcoming. Made to feel very welcome. Looking forward to going back to see the remaining changes. This will definately be a stay you remember!

Room Tip: the ones in the roof - as per photos are amazing. All rooms look forward
