We had a wonderful two nights stay in Chateau dex Ormeaux. There was plentiful travel brochures, the hosts were very friendly, breakfast was sumptuous. We even bought some jam back to Australia.

We loved our room Couperin with lovely view of the grounds, and authentic pretty bathroom.

Playing with the friendly dogs was another bonus!

This is the first, and only, review I have ever written. I usually do not have the time to write reviews but this chateau was so fantastic I would be remise if I did not share what an absolutely fantastic place is the Chateau des Ormeaux.

I work in the US for a German carmaker, the one with the three-pointed star. When we go to Europe they are very gracious and often put us in some of the nicest places in Germany and France. Places I probably could not afford otherwise. The Chateau des Ormeaux is, without a doubt, my favorite place and it is a great value; well worth the money.

What makes it special? It starts with location. It sits on a beautiful property in the Loire Valley. The grounds and gardens are picture perfect and there are plenty of outdoor places to sit and either mingle with other guests or to sit alone and just enjoy the view. It is also centrally located in a beautiful section of France, the prime Chateau region so there are a lot of things to do and to see.

Moving on: The Chateau itself is just the right size to be intimate but not so small that you feel you do not have any privacy. The room we stayed in was decorated in very nice antique furniture and accessories - and it was spotless. (I should mention the view out the window, which overlooked one of the gardens and a gravel path, was outstanding.)

I met and chatted with two of the hosts; two of the nicest people we met while traveling. While my wife and I did not take them up on their offers to recommend a restaurant, I heard several guests commenting that they had done so, from casual to fine dining, and were very pleased. There is a sense of genuine warmth from the hosts that added to the warmth of the chateau; It is obvious they like what they do and they really enjoy people. Yet, they don't intrude. They are there if you need them but not obtrusive in any way. And the breakfast "spread" was excellent and afforded an opportunity to share stories with other guests.

I would summarize by saying that if you are looking for a chance to experience France, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, you could not choose a finer place than the Chateau des Ormeaux. There is so much to see in and around the Loire Valley; the accommodations and breakfast are superior; the hosts are very good at making you feel at home. Simply put, it is a great value and a great venue.

My wife, teenage daughter, and I spent 4 very pleasant nights at the Chateau des Ormeaux. We stayed in the Manor House. The location is very convenient for short trips to the Chateau of the Loire valley and the villages. The pool is terrific and as pretty as the pictures. The room decor is very well done--my wife especially liked the fabric the owners used decorating the place. Breakfast was excellent with bread and homemade jams, fruit, yogurt, etc etc, with great coffee and a wide selection of teas. Good wine selection for sale in the cave. Our hosts were helpful and welcoming. It has the feeling of a well run small hotel not a B&B. Mornings at the great Chateau of the Loire, afternoons by the pool or hiking on the expansive property, evenings in Amboise--what more can you ask for. We had a great time.

My husband and I stayed for -only!- one night during May, 2008, and it was the highlight of our trip....
Room: We stayed at the couperin room, which is highly recommended. After having spent some time in France for our honeymoon, we thought just another Chateau would not impress us, but the room was ABSOLUTELY romantic, the best we stayed at. We had a wonderful view from our bedroom, as well as from our spacious and luxurious bathroom. In addition (this specific room) had no musty smell, as we experienced in all other chateaux.
Chateau: The best of all is the atmosphere all over the Chateau. The owners showed us some pictures of the property and we were amazed by what they have achieved.
Breakfast: they prepare it themselves. It was very good.
Location: the location of the Chateau is perfect when you have a car, because it is near Amboise and the most interesting sites, and it is up the hill giving all rooms a perfect view...But if you do not own a car, you must be aware of the fact that even though a bus leaves you near by, you have to climb a small road to the entrance.
Service: We only met one of the owners. He was very helpful and gave us all nessary information, but he was a little rude and hasty.
In general, we spent the most romantic day of our trip in this Chateau and you should not miss the chance to visit it, even for one night...
