“Outstanding facilities, service, location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2011

Just spent a week at Olimpiades, we were lucky because the snow was very good, got a bit slushy toward the end of the week, but slushy is better than icy! Compared to when I was in Pas over New Years the conditions were 100% better! Anyway this is a review of the hotel and not the resort, so here are my thoughts:

Pros:
- FREE WI-FI INTERNET both in room and in restaurant - really nice touch!
- true ski in- ski out (best situated place in Pas for this) - ski down to a choice of 4 lifts (2 of which take you to the top of the mountain), no walking in my 1993 retro but clunky ski boots!!
- every apartment comes with a lockable ski locker so you don't have your wet gear in the room
- very friendly and helpful staff, both behind the front desk and in the bar/ restaurant
- very clean and new facilities in bedroom which included: huge rain maker shower with two shower heads, towels and hand towels, kitchenette with toaster, kettle, two hot plates, microwave, all plates and mugs etc, all cleaning equipment like fairy liquid and sponges. Tv and plenty of wardrobe space to hang your gear.
- nice bar restaurant: nice enough tables and chairs with background music for dining, widescreen tv's showing sky/espn/setanta football games, British/Irish style breakfast lunch and dinner menu, do a curry night (curry and beer for 10 Euros), menu stretches from about 8 euros for a pizza to about 17 euros for top end meals. There is also a pool table (one in bar and one in games type room above).

Cons:
- would be nice to have a balcony but the windows all opened very wide so not really an issue
- communal area in the 1 bedroom apartment for 5 people was slightly small but really not a problem (just being picky)
- situated uphill from supermarkets so bringing food back is a good walk - BUT you can't have ski-in ski-out if you are close to the supermarkets so I would take the walk to the shops any day!! as you can imagine the way there is all downhill!

Would I go back?
- absolutely yes, this is a great place to stay.

Located right on the ski slopes.Ski out of the door in the morning and ski back in the door later.Large rooms with bunk bed sin some of them which can sleep 5 adults comfortably.Safety deposit in rooms.Meals are served in downstairs bar which seems to be run separately from the accomodation but it works well.We stayed half board and the value was really good.Prices were reasonable except for soft drinks. The cleaning was minimal and bed linen changed once midweek.200 Euros cash deposit per room caused some consternation even though it was refunded in cash on departure, leaving no time to spend it!

Recently refurbished this is a really nice hotel when compared to others I have stayed at in Pas. With one big lounge / kitchen / dining area its never going to win any major awards but is perfectly comfortable provided you know what you are going to get.

One bonus was the bathroom and underfloor heating – both an unexpected bonus and any seasoned skier will know how fantastic a decent shower at the end of a hard day (or night) is. Great views from the room and with 5 of us (inc one giant) it didn’t feel too claustrophobic. Clean towels everyday made it simple to keep track of this but a dishwasher would have been nice (usually standard in my experience).

Location is great with ski in, ski out and only 5 mins walk from pretty much everything. The bar downstairs is a bit clinical if being critical but no complaints on service or price (similar to uk prices at time of visit), staff pleasant enough and the ski locker is adjacent which makes it all very convenient.

Complaints, not too many; we weren’t aware of the 200euro cash deposit on arrival (may take cc next year and this is really the tour operators fault)), the beds were creaky so if you rolled over in the night it would wake you (not a problem post happy hour) and the receptionist had the personality of a peanut.

We didn’t eat here but food was recommended, we preferred to sample the local restaurants or cook in the room. Two hobs, a microwave and fridge is pretty standard in these places and we got by – spag bol, curry, stew etc etc with a bit of improvisation.

In summary, if you’re going to Pas and done your research you’ll know what to expect. This hotel is no different. Would I stay here again – yes, as I’ve stayed in some much more suspect places when taking a package tour – in fact I’ve not stayed in much better for the money….. just hope they get some new beds as part of the 2010 investment and put some happy pills in the receptionists coffee.

We stayed here for a week at the beginning of Jan. The apartments are great, they are newly re-built so everything was clean and modern. The shower is huge although there is only one mirror in the whole place which is a pain. The staff were very helpful, nothing was too much bother. We liked that you call all do half board on a daily basis with the bar/restaurant downstairs, it was great value at €18 for a full english & 3 course evening meal. The location is brilliant too, short ride to several lists and a short walk to all the bars etc.
