i stayed here for 6 weeks. i originally stayed elsewhere but was very greatful to find this heaven.
the owner Sarita and her family were some of the loveliest people I met in all my travels. They look after you as if you are family. It is very well set up if you are planning for along stay - the rooms have comfortable bed, regualrly cleaned bedding, wardrobe to put your clothes, writing desk/drawers. the rooms are also tidied very regularly. if you do laundry, the prices are incredibly cheap and she takes very good care of your clothes (unlike the last place i stayed at which lost some of mine!).
Sarita often takes guests on tours of kathmandu, especially to places you may not find in a guidebook. And also when you are going somewhere new she will take you to the right bus stop and wait til your on the bus and she makes sure the conductor knows where you are getting off. I was so grateful, it made it very easy to travel (it can be hard otherwise to work out where the buses go and which stops are for which buses)
She also provides meals - i had breakfast and dinner (and occasionally if i was home early, she's whip up lunch). One of the best cooks. nice healthy vegetarian food, freshly prepared and very hygienic (much better than eating out at restaurants every day), with lots of variety. she even makes her own homemade yoghurt!!! It was also good to stay there as patan has limited choices for food, particualrly in the areas where many guesthouses are...and so you have to walk in the dark which can be dangerous (the roads aren't maintained at all, and ocne when walking at night in search of dinner at my previous guesthouse, my legs fell into a small hole -which to my horror the next morning i discovered had lots of sharp metal in it, i was very lucky). so much easier to have food prepared, for a great price too!
Also, i was unfortuante enough to get sick whilst in nepal (which is inevitable when you're there for so long and i had to eat out for lunch near my workplace)...sarita took excellent care of my, much like a mother would. She gave me specially prepared food, and would check in on me every so often and tried to nurse me back to health. She even took me to the hospital, sat up there with me all night, and also made sure they charged me a reasonable fee. I was so grateful to have found this place and to have found such a lovely caring person to help when i was in need. I can tell you, no other guesthouse would take as much care (i know having stayed at a few others in patan).
it is the lovely homely feeling and atmosphere of the place that i will remember most fondly.
there is also free wireless internet (both when power is on...and then there's a certain stored amount for later use when the power is off). Other palces only have internet when poewr is on...if at all. there's a library with lots of english books available for reading.
it is also nice and quiet unlike other guesthouses so you can sleep
Easily the best guesthouse i've ever stayed in. And I was grateful to find somewhere that felt like home when i was so far from my own.
