“Beautiful retreat at Nagarkot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2012

We stayed one night at the hotel which is about 2,000 metres above sea level and offers beautiful views on a clear day of the distant Annapurna ranges in the west. Langtang range in the centre and Mt Everest in the east. We stayed in the main building and there were cottages around the lower hotel grounds. You can access the top of the main building to see the sunset and sunrise. The hotel has a garden where you can have your afternoon tea and enjoy the beautiful flowers and clean air. There were candles in our room and electricity was shut down during our dinner in the restaurant. The black-out affects the whole hotel and lasted till about 10.30 pm. Water quality was good. We have western food for lunch and it was good. Dinner was western buffet.

The best Hotel if you are traveling to Nagarkot. It is located high on a hill (higher than other hotels around it), having fantastic views over the Himalayan range. The hotel is beautiful, the staff are friendly, rooms are clean and as we were traveling in the spring, the garden was full of flowers. It's a magical, cozy place. Make sure you wake up for the sunrise, not to miss the mountain views at dawn!

I arrived here with a group about 5.00pm, its high up in the hills with lovely views over the Himalayas. Most of the hotels around have roof top viewing. The hotel has a main building which all our group were in, or there were chalets in the grounds. Only problem, no lift, so all the bags etc., had to be carried up and down. ONly a few rooms on each floor, so you could be 4 floors up. Quite chilly here and we wore our jackets for dinner, as a few doors were left open.If cold you could ask for a Hot Water bottle. The rooms are heated, and a lovely thick blanket is provided as well as the quilts. But l found it enough for me with just a quilt, once in bed. On our arrival the hot water had run out, so l wasn't able to have a tepid shower till after dinner. They have energy bulbs in most of the hotels so the lighting is not very good.No hair dryer.Buffet dinner which was quite basic and food still all uncovered. A good service with the cases. If you want the loo when in the restaurant, its either back to your room or you have to go outisde and under the ground floor to one. The hotel gardens are lovely. In the morning we were got up early to see the sun rise and later taken for a lovely walk around the area before BF.The staff all wear black tops like floeeces with the hotel name on,.

Room Tip: If you cant manage stairs you will need to be out in the Chalets.

After a long way uphill,we arrived in the fort resort in the twilight. We got the rooms at the top floor. The rooms are very clean, although a little old.Included in the room charge, the dinner and breakfast are also nice. There is heating in the rooms.Outside the hotel, there is a big beautiful gardon with much flowers. Also you can see many kinds of birds flying very close to you.The building of this hotel is very amazing. It's so beautiful.

Stayed for one night in Dec 2011. Recommended by my driver/guide. Twin rooms are rather small compared to typical hotels in Nepal. Comes with good hot shower (after 8.30 pm though) and staff provide hot water bottles and gas heaters too.

Service is quite average except for one or two friendly staff. Quite pricey for the average food and service.

However, the hotel offers a fantastic view of the Langtang Range if you are lucky that the day is clear. Beautiful garden to relax and view the scenery, otherwise not much things to do around the hotel.

Stayed only for one night (Dec.30) and I wished to stay more. We were assigned to the Cottage 201. It was big, with one double bed in the main room and another single in the living room. It has plenty of natural light but at night could be a little bit darker. It's a good idea to bring your own flashlights, even candles. Keep in mind that the power cuts are a norm in Nepal, and Nagarkot is not the exception. The room was average clean and has gas heater, as well as wood stove.
At night the staff will give you a cushion with hot water to warm your bed. The shower was good and with hot water, something difficult to have even in Kathmandu.
About the dinner, we didn't try the buffet . The breakfast menu is limited, no fruits in it.
Sun rising and sunset are beautiful specially at this time of the year. Nights are full of stars. Most of the rooms have view to the mountains.

Room Tip: Bring your own flashlights, even candles. Cottages are bigger than rooms and have gas heaters.

We stayed this hotel for one night and the experience was memorable. Mountain peaks are clearly visible from the hotel. Room was clean but insufficient light. Hotel management should think to improve their facilities especially for kids. I point should flagged up- Food: Buffet items could be improved.

Room Tip: Higher floors have clear views
