“Incredible kindness!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW via mobile

Our stay at the farmhouse was prolonged due to the earthquake. I cannot express enough how wonderful the staff was in making our group (3 teachers and 20 hish school students) unbelievable comfortable during incredibly tough times. Their hospitality truly is amazing and I wish them well as they reconstruct after the earthquake.

We spent one night here (Christmas Eve!) and it has been great. We were given a very nice corner room just facing the Himalaya: the view from my bed was STUNNING! The whole hotel is very nice and also the food is good. The owner Rudra is very friendly and even gave us some little Buddhas as Christmas present!s!

Clean and cosy room with your own fireplace. Kind staffs with good service and smile. Great Everest views from the room. Basic room facilities, delicious organic meals. Must see Sunset from their restaurant. Enjoy!

My friend and I stayed at Nagarkot Farmhouse resort for 2 nights the first week in October. It is a rustic retreat outside Kathmandu, about 75 minutes from the airport up a very scenic but windy road, that gets many repeat visitors for good reason. About 3 km from the town Nagarkot where the luxury hotels are, at the end of a long and very bumpy road, you emerge from the main gate into a peaceful haven of prayer flags, picnic tables and a pretty garden. The farmhouse label is accurate, as one has thee feeling of being at an old fashioned farm stay (mind you, one with its own beautiful stupa!), with views of the mountains beyond and fruit orchards below, warm wool blankets, wood burning stoves, and comfortable chairs for sitting, gazing at the incredible views. The rooms are generously sized and our twin beds were very comfortable. The staff were gentle, friendly and helpful. The simple, home-cooked food with local ingredients was tasty and plentiful (full board was included, with reasonably priced beer and spirits also available.) We had great conversations during our communal dinners with the other guests, both international and Nepali, and with the help of a little beer and a talented Dutch singer who happened to be staying overnight while trekking, a multinational singalong! From Nagarkot Farmhouse, those who are energetic can do a variety of full day hikes, or simply walk down the very scenic but bumpy road to the local village below (only about an hour round trip). We were blessed with stunning sunsets and clear views of the mountains at sunrise, but even on a foggy day, this would be a charming place to commune with nature and enjoy genuine Nepali hospitality.

The views were amazing but that is all up to the weather - we were lucky. The hotel management is really exceptional - they are friendly, helpful and will do anything to please. The rooms are comfortable but the bathrooms could use some work on leaking taps. Food is very good with home made jams and bread and real Nepal coffee. Bird watching, hiking or just relaxing are the best activities.

Room Tip: The end room with big windows facing north and east.

In 3+ years of living in Kathmandu this was one of our regular out of the city weekend retreats. Peacefully perched on its own hill soaring above the valley, with unrivalled spectacular views to the Himalayas from your room and the balcony, it's a 45 minute walk, or 10 minute very bumpy ride, out of the township - and there is not much to miss there. It's warm, welcoming, homely, with homegrown simple food - everything a weekend retreat farmhouse ought to be. There are a number of easy walks through the surounding villages and a beautiful walk downhill through the river valley to Sankhu and the Vajrayogini Temple - 2-3 hours away - and a stiff uphill walk back. Great place, very friendly people.
